How many pounds is this product rated to withstand?

The Door Buddy Door Prop is designed to be quite sturdy and can withstand substantial pressure, but its weight-bearing capacity can vary depending on the type of pressure applied. When the prop is fully engaged with the door latch, it becomes very strong and should have no trouble holding up against a dog that weighs well over 100 pounds. To further enhance the product's strength, we've recently upgraded the materials for the strike plate part. This modification ensures a more secure attachment to the door frame and a more reliable adjustment setting. For additional strength or stability, you might find FAQ#9 on our installation guide at thedoorbuddy.com/propinstall helpful. It provides valuable tips on how to maximize the Door Buddy Door Prop's performance based on your specific needs. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Does this work even with small breed dog?

I’m not sure about tinies. But I have a small Pekingese and she can’t get in. I was very surprised at how well this works. You can also adjust the width. I am very happy with it.

I see lots of reviews saying it does not stay in locked position. How do you lock it and stop it from sliding?

If anyone received a Door Prop with Philips screws and are still having issues locking, please reach out to us at cs@thedoorbuddy.com. We are switching to Torx screws and a custom Torx L Wrench tool to make it easier to tighten fully.

Can you close door all the way if needed?

Hi! Yes, it can easily be closed all the way without removing anything. You can see in this video at around the 25 second mark. 🙌
