Quality has declined
I have one of these that was manufactured in 1997 that is not "punching" holes cleanly any more. My biggest hiccup is punching through clear sheet covers. This "new" hole punch has clearly gone down in quality. The metal finish is not as smooth and the tray to catch the punched holes is plastic rather than metal, which may not matter in the end. (I am assuming the '97 model was USA made; the new one says made in China.) The holes punched by the new device are rougher on the edges, but the punch is easier and cleaner than the worn out one with no partial holes. However, punching through clear sheet covers did not improve at all over the old punch! The punch gets bound up and distorts the sheet. I love the larger holes for ease of turning pages in a binder, but wish the machining were more precise, which would result in a smoother hole.

worth the price
We use this hole punch for creating laminated pages for our travel scrapbook. It does a great job with those thick pages, as well as multiple pages of copier paper. We need the larger width holes for the scrapbook pages.

Court Mandated Hole Puncher
Was ordered in a federal court matter (Cal. Central District) to use a non-standard hole puncher for all submitted pleadings. Even with e-file, still have to send "courtesy" copies down to court. This hole puncher has oversized holes and geez, are the holes bigger! I won't use it for regular files because the holes are too big except perhaps for trial notebooks. If you are ordered to punch oversized holes, this is an excellent hole puncher. The mechanical arm is very sturdy and we can easily punch 40+ pages. Very heavy.

Great devices, but think I got a bad one.
Love the large hole size and sturdiness of the Masters Punches - have owned one for over 30 years. But the one I just bought seems to have a manufacturing flaw. The three punch assemblies need to be beveled (like the old ones were) where paper enters the cutters so that the paper does not hang up instead of sliding smoothly into the cutters.

Good Hole Punch
We use these in our office - they work great for larger stacks of paper. Do wear out over years of use.

large holes
Maybe a bit larger than I expected. Also I need to find out how to sharpen the cutter if possible as it never cuts the circle fully off. This might be a defect that annoys me if there is no solution.

Soviet-Era Catastrophe
It was like Christmas morning when my hole punch arrived at my office. I had visions of punching through reams of paper with the greatest of ease - no more jams, no more awkward ergonomics, just pure punching delight. My elation slowly turned to confusion when I unboxed the punch. In front of me sat what looked like a cheap Soviet-bloc era stamped metal hole punch. I quickly loaded in a sheet of paper and depressed the lever. Flip! The action of pushing down the lever flipped the unit on its side. I inspected the newly punched sheet only to discover that the piston did not cleanly separate the "chad" from the hole. "Clearly, I must not have done this right." I thought to myself. I loaded up another sheet, and then another, only to discover that each time I depressed the lever, the unit would flip on its side and would leave the "chad" on the sheet.Undaunted, I will continue my search for the elusive grand daddy of hole punchers.I believe the inherent problem with the unit is it is unbalanced (the position of the lever in relation to the width of the base) and the piston does not depress far enough into the hole to get a clean cutting action. Fondly, I recall my father having a similar unit which was produced in the 70s that has lasted to this day. The build was wonderful and made of quality parts - it did not flip. Despite its weight and size, it feels cheap and because of its obvious design flaws was returned. As an aside, please note that while some people were excited about the oversized holes the punch makes, I found the nearly dime sized holes are ginormous. But that is not a problem with the unit, just a potential problem not visualizing how big the oversize holes were going to be.

Perforadora 3 agujeros
Está bien la perforadora. Lo que me gustaría es que las perforaciones fueran más pequeñas como otras perforadoras los hacen. Por este motivo es que le otorgo solamente 3 estrellas

Is there any warranty?
The metal at the top of the punch broke after only 8 months of very little use. Would there be any warranty on this product??
