This is NOT a 14 cup coffee pot and did not last a year!
I purchased this specifically because the description said it was a 14-cup coffee maker. One side of the pot does say 14-cup but it is in Spanish. My last coffee maker, which I loved, was also a Krups. I still have the carafe. When a full pot is made and you pour the coffee from this coffee maker into the old carafe it comes to 12 cups, not 14. Also, this Krups coffee maker does not have a built-in filter in the water reservoir. The coffee does not taste as good as it did with my old Krups. I regret purchasing and will be looking for a replacement that I actually like. I will probably not purchase that replacement on the Amazon site because I can't be sure which coffee maker is an actual 14-cup or is just pretending to be one. Update: Nine months later and this appliance is a complete failure. The coffee NEVER tasted as good. It constanly had to be reprogramed. The clean cycle let a lot to be desired. Now the carafe has literally fallen apart in my husband's hands. He only suffered a mild scalding, but Krups has lost a customer forever. It could have burned our granddaughter, she was standing about a foot away and the pot was nearly full. Would not recommend this coffee maker to my worst enemy.

Decent Coffee Maker
We got this through the Vine program and spent a good amount of time with it before posting our review here. First item arrived in a damaged internal box. External box was fine, but the inner boxes were crushed a bit. When we unpacked the coffee maker, it had a dent right in the front. So, we exchanged for an undamaged one. Second one arrived in perfect shape. We used this coffee maker for about 2 weeks. We were using a Bunn coffee maker (20 years old, built like a tank, and no frills) and the only reason we considered a new one was for the timer feature. This coffee maker looks nice, but feels like a significantly lesser quality than the Bunn. But, it works well. The good: - Timer function works great. - Strength adjustment (not sure if it's a gimmick, but it can be adjusted). - Reusable/washable filter basket. - Looks nice. - GREAT customer service by Krupps (explained below). The bad: - Lightweight, made with a lot of plastic. - Reusable filter works OK, but you get very fine grit at the bottom of each cup of coffee. - Easy to overflow (explained below). So, the second unit we got was flawless and we used it for about a week with the reusable filter basket. We noticed a bit of 'sludge' or very fine grit at the bottom of each cup of coffee. We decided to try without the reusable filter basket and use a paper filter instead. That's where we had another (and much bigger issue). Came downstairs about 1/2 hour after the coffee should have been made to hear the coffee maker gurgling and still brewing. That seemed odd, so when I went and checked on it, I noticed that there was very little coffee in the carafe. The filter basket had been lifted up so that the plunger to release the coffee was NOT depressed. The carafe should push the plunger in the bottom of the filter basket. In this case, the whole basket lifted up and therefore was not letting brewed coffee flow out the bottom into the carafe. Instead, the filter basket overflowed and spilled partially brewed coffee and grounds all over the counter and back down into the reservoir! So, it was constantly sending partially brewed coffee back up to the overflowing basket and back down into the reservoir. I examined the coffee maker and the basket has a raised tab on it. I assumed that the lid should contact that tab to hold the basket down. The lid is curved or warped, so there was a 1/4" - 1/" gap between the underside of the lid and the tab on the filter. I called Krups and they were VERY helpful. They sent a return label and I mailed the coffee maker back to them. They tested it and could not get the problem to happen again. They said the gap between the lid and the tab on the filter basket is supposed to be there. The returned the coffee maker and followed up with a call and explanation of what was tested. We agreed that it must have been a fluke. I still wonder why they put a raised tab on the filter basket if it's NOT supposed to be held down by the lid, but it is what it is. The only thing I can think is the time it overflowed, maybe the filter with the grounds was not all the way down into the notch causing the carafe to NOT depress the plunger. It has worked fine since. Top notch customer service, nice coffee maker. Could use some improvement, but overall works good.

Just average
Sleek and stylish. Had all the bells and whistles I wanted in a coffee maker. Coffee tasted fine, no complaints about quality of the brew or the time it took to make a full pot. The pot, though, was slightly smaller than I anticipated. Not all "12 cups" are measured the same, and this is a bit egregious. The touchbuttons on the front - not always easy to depress. Had to press a bit harder than I wanted, but then sometimes it would recognize accidental light touches. And the programming was a bit challenging to remember what button does what (labeling isn't the greatest). The brew basket was easy to overfill with water, so the design allows it to short circuit itself out of operation. But it died after 1 week, so returned it. Too bad, I like the Krups brand but had to move on.

LED screen goes bad
Worked fine for awhile. After about a year some of the LED characters started going out. Now at about 20 months only about half of the sections light up. Impossible to see the time or set the timer. For the price, this should last longer than 2 years

Will Not Buy Again
I purchased the Krupp Coffee Maker because we had one previously and it lasted a long time. It was a great coffee maker and was easy to use and clean. I thought this new one would be like the other one I had. However, this proved to be incorrect. There are several things that makes this one not the same. The pot holds 12 cups of good tasting coffee. However, the pot itself is not easy to use. Its top is “top heavy” hard to keep open while filling it with water. It flops over and closes while filling. You have to hold it open to fill. I either take the top off or just let the water run through the drip top. To clean the top comes off easily. The top has a tube that the hot coffee drips through. The other model I had owned before allowed the user to simply twist and take off to clean and run through the dishwasher. The new one does not come off. It’s harder to clean. The clock is not user friendly. To program the timer is easy. Yet, setting the time is not. Also after owning it for 11 months the some of the numbers have disappeared in some of the digits. (I own a smaller 10 cup model too and the digits have done the same thing). The CLEAN function will not stop flashing. I follow the directions on cleaning the coffee maker yet it continues to flash. I’m very disappointed in the Krupps coffee maker. Why not keep things the same when it is already a good product? Now, because of these problems I will not be purchasing this brand in the future. And if I could I would have given this no stars in the review.
