If I mount fans at top of my case do I want reverse or regular ?

If you want the air exhaust out get the regular d30. If you want to intake air then get the reverse. I think the regular d30 is most people choice since top and back fans usually exhaust air in most builds.

can a purchase a single fan? i don't need three of them.

Yes, but I think the main site has them right now. Or wait on the amazon phantek page.
