Using these on magnetic car mount, but will I have to remove to use with regular wireless charger?

No, I don't but I have noticed for the magnet to become somewhat warm whenever I remove it from a regular wireless charger.

Will this magnet ring work for any magnet or only the magnetic charging base by the brand?

Just a piece of metal that works with any magnetic holder, as long as the magnetic holder matches the 2.5 inch diameter of the ring.

does metal ring need to be attached to phone?

It works best if it's attached to the phone. I have tried attaching it to the inner side of my case but for some reason it has more magnetic attraction when the glued side of the ring is towards the back of the phone. Plus, if you are driving in a very bumpy road you can just remove the case and put the ring directly in the charger what makes it impossible to fall.
