Greater Than Games Horizons of Spirit Island Punchboard Panels 5-Pack

Bought this only for the unique Spirits, since I have the full base game (plus other expansions) already. The Spirits are low complexity, but not low in fun. Unlike the low complexity Spirits that came with the base game, these are far more interesting, and unique. Even though I generally prefer Moderate and High complexity, these Spirits are definitely worth having.

Great product, I’m glad they released this version of the spirit boards. I prefer they greyboard since they feel more sturdy and durable. The only down side is they are thicker, taking more box space. This may be an issue if you only have the Horizons version of the game, but if you also have the base game or expansion boxes it’s not a big deal.

If you own the base game of Spirit Islands, but do NOT own Spirit Island Horizons, you might, like me, wonder if getting these would let you play as the Horizons spirits in the base game. It will NOT, or at least not fully. With just this pack, you would not have access to the spirit-specific starting cards that are a huge part of the spirits’ identities, and are only available in the actual Horizons box. This pack is meant for those who already own Horizons AND the base game of Spirit Island, letting you incorporate the Horizons spirits into the base game with components (boards in this case) that match the quality of the base game’s spirits.

These Spirit boards are ok...at best. Quite basic to be honest but good quality. If the ones in the base game are marked easy, these would be marked "super easy," if they were marked. Here's the thing: I was under the impression these came with their respective starting cards. They do NOT! I was going to add them with the rest of my spirits regardless of their simplicity. However, I now have these spirit boards without the necessary matching cards to implement them! I really wish they had posted that in the ad. I would NOT have bought them if I had known!! I'm thinking these are going to end up in the bin now. It sucks too bc despite their simplicity, having these would've been a nice addition to the collection but it seems it simply was not meant to be.

I have no interest in the Horizons game, but the spirits are compatible with the core game so I ordered those. The problem? It doesn't include the 4 unique power cards for each Spirit. Now I have to print those up myself.

The game may be great, but $17 is a lot of money for 5 pieces of cardboard (without the associated cards).

The base Horizons of Spirit Island includes very thin paste board player boards for the five spirits included in that game. This upgrade increases the thickness to the level of the other expansion spirits. Unfortunately, the Horizons box is not big enough to accommodate these boards, so it's mostly intended for those -- like myself -- who would like to have the add-on spirits available along with their cards from the base game for easier teaching games of Spirit Island. I bought these boards during a Thanksgiving/Black Friday sale and I recommend you do the same.

This may be harder to come by now that GTG has gone out of business. spirit Island is an amazing game. Glad I bought this.
