This fits my 40-year-old tilt-head KitchenAid mixer. There weren’t multiple sizes when I got mine—no little arms, not five quarts—just a very basic bowl. I think it’s about four quarts (it says K45 on the bottom). The problem is it doesn’t have a handle. When I’m making things and trying to scrape contents into pans or containers, it’s very slippery and easy to drop. I have small hands to begin with, and as I’ve gotten older, my hands are less strong and more arthritic, so it’s become difficult. The handle on this makes a big difference. It fits and locks into the base of my mixer perfectly. It’s very stable, good quality stainless steel, and it washes up nicely. I can do the dime test with it, and it works perfectly. I do wish it had a pouring spout, but the only ones that do are glass, and that makes me nervous. There are too many photos of them shattering, and I drop things too easily—like I said, old hands. I don’t know why there aren’t any metal ones with a spout, but if someone made one, I’d buy it. This does exactly what it says it will do. Very happy with it.

Wish I’d have bought this sooner. We make 4lbs of butter a month to keep our family in fresh. Having a second bowl keeps me from stopping and washing one mid-job. If only for that it’s been worth it. My wife is looking forward to it for that reason come the holidays for baking. From a manufacturing standpoint it’s made of premium stainless steel with good heft, a mirror-like finish, and an ideal brushed interior finish. Having inspected the handle’s spot welds I don’t foresee any problem with the handle breaking off as has been mentioned. In fact, they looked so good you could infer that the problem’s been addressed if there were one. The base fits perfectly and stably as does our existing kitchenaid splatter shield. Most importantly, it’s geometry is seemingly identical to the OEM in that from the dimple on the bottom to the top of the bowl it keeps very close tolerances with mixing attachments without hitting. For us we didn’t go wrong buying it.

Fit and worked without issue. Decent weight stainless. But be sure to wipe inside out with some vinegar after washing. When I did so, black came back off-like it was in the stainless. I did it 3 times until clear. Then I made my meringue and all went well.
