Best canned clams
These clams were canned whole which made a much tastier claim chowder than chopped clams. Also, in the past I'd purchased mega sized cans & the smaller can size made it easier to tailor the recipe to smaller # of guests.

Stay away from these Chinese clams. Food poisoning.....TWICE!
More than half of the cans were dented. I have never had a shellfish allergy. I made clam cakes with these in June. Four hours after eating, sick as a dog. Thought it may have been a fluke so tried them in chowder in January. Same thing, sick as a dog. I was afraid I had developed a shellfish allergy but my wife's chowder recipe is so good I had to try again. This time with Snow's clams from the good ole' USA. No problem what so ever. Stay as far away from these Chinese clams as you can...Unless you like puking your guts out for three hours that is.

These are great.
My daughter has being eating these, so I went ahead and bought my own. These are better than Bumble Bee brand to me. Get you some pasta and zesty Italian dressing you got a quick meal. There are a lot in this can for two people or save a half for later. Great buy.

Good flavor
Family was particularly delighted with these clams in red sauce linguine. Our pocket book was also charmed.

clams
Excellent…where "excellent" means 10 on a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being highest. A coach who asked a player to give 110% is crazy. One can only give 100%. Or a teacher who uses an A+ grade when the scale only goes to A. I now should have enough words to send this on.... but "Excellent" should have said it all. My "Excellent" means if I need more of this product I would buy from you.

Chowder time.
For a small batch of New England clam chowder, heat 2 qts whole milk, thicken with 4T butter and 4 T cornstarch and bring to a boil. Lower the heat and add 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables and 1T chicken base. Dice an onion and a potato and simmer for an hour (do not boil or it will separate/curdle) Now open 2 cans of baby clams and stir in. Serve with oyster crackers. Guaranteed you will not have leftovers.

Outrageous Price Increase !!
Chicken of the Sea Whole Baby Clams are tender, mild in taste, and grossly overpriced. Clams provide excellent nutrition and protein, however the current price is prohibitive. Clams are versatile and can be used in many recipes. However, I purchased this product prior to April 23, 2012 for $28.86 with free shipping. The price increase of $16.13 since writing my review 2 days ago is outrageous and unwarranted! And the shipping cost adds "insult to injury." There is no shortage of clams available and I will look for another product. Drained and rinsed, I love clams marinated in a bit of olive oil with garlic and a generous dash of Cajun seasoning. Clams are rich in Iron for those of us suffering from an Iron deficiency. Clams are a good source of Omega-3 fatty acids and are very low in Saturated Fat. Clams provide Magnesium, Manganese, Vitamin B12, Riboflavin, Niacin, Phosphorus, Potassium, Copper, Zinc, and Selenium. Clams are a very good source of Protein. Please be aware that data suggests that the calcium in milk, cream, etc. can inhibit iron absorption.
