They do not smell at all. We use them daily and for meetings so highly recommended. Long lasting and wash well too. **Q: Are they pure white please? Don’t want a mucky white as in a bedroom on pure white beside table - thank you** A: Mine are pure white - I use them on white bedside cabinets. **Q: Do these mats stick to the bottom of your mug?.** A: Not had that problem with them. I already have the black mats for our bedside tables and living room side tables, they are great. They are very easy to clean, they have a lip that goes around it so if you spill a few drops of liquid it stays within that (it doesn't help with full drink spills obviously). The main reason I wanted these in the garden also, is because they double up as a glass cover, you can push them on/in to the rim of your glass to make air tight using the base of the mat. They can also be placed on the top as a cover. I love these mats because I have glass tables and they don't slip, so much better than other mats, even cork can slide.
