It is, however, designed to be very leak resistant, and to keep drinks at their optimum drinking temperature for a more than sufficient amount of time. I do have other mugs that are leakproof and that will withstand being thrown in the bottom of a bag and lugged around from place to place. But I wanted this mug mainly for use around the home, to keep hot drinks hot, and cold drinks cold - both alcoholic and non alcoholic. And for this purpose it really does excel. With this mug, ice that would usually have melted within an hour or 2 is still frozen solid after several hours, and drinks do stay cold or hot for far longer than is realistically needed. The shape is not only comfortable to hold, but also looks much more aesthetically pleasing around the home (to my eye, at least) than other styles by the same brand. And the colour and paintwork are exceptional.
