Once boosted with the app, sound level improves across the board with some noticeable improvement in mid-range as far as I can tell.Recently amazon dropped it price from £59.99 to £35.99 which is the main reason I picked this unit instead of other simple adapters; effectively i get an amp with some sound improvement for an extra £25 which to me is an OK price to pay / invest in.Knock 1 star off primarily for 2 reasons: 1) the build which is a bit flimsy especially the button that releases the lightning cable and 2) for anyone using it in a car you should test it carefully: mine works fine with a USB cigarette lighter adapter however if i use it with the in-car USB port which support phone book / call functionality, it would randomly stop my music while its playing which is really really annoying. I need to spend some more time to identify the cause was but i am really puzzled so far as phone call functionality were not affected in anyway and using my phone for GPS has no issues either, just the music playing got randomly stopped. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound improvement - with the App... *by S***P on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 February 2018* Excellent device. Dramatically improves sound on headphones and any audio equipment connected to it, provided you install the dBMagix "SoundWise" app (from the App Store) and turn boost on. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 8, which requires a 3.5mm/lightning adaptor for old-style headphones. Apple supply one with the phone, a flimsy affair which doesn't look like it will last long. This device is so much better, and charges the phone as well. My iPhone 8 has much clearer audio than my previous iPhone 6, so with this adaptor I'm very happy with the result. I bought it not because I needed a headphone amplifier (I own the rather sensitive Sennheiser Momentum 2) but rather because I felt I would get a purer sound from the lightning socket rather than the headphone jack. Indeed this is correct and the amp also adds a lot of presence in the treble.
