This was PERFECT for my ren faire outfit! It’s soft and good quality and layered perfectly under my corset. And it has pockets! It was pretty wrinkled when I got it so if that bothers you make sure you get it in plenty of time to remedy that.

I LOVED this. It was the perfect addition for my renfaire outfit. It was comfortable throughout the day and layered well with my other pieces. It had light corseting but not enough to be uncomfortable and it’s adjustable to fit however you’d like.

Great overjacket! Worked wonderfully over my dress for the renaissance festival. Fit true to size. Has a little side zipper to help as well. Will purchase more from Scarlet Darkness.

OK, this is suuuuuper cute. I wore it over a Scarlet Darkness dress for pirate night on a cruise and I thought it looked great - and it was comfy! I even got a few compliments, which is a first for me even though I always wear a piratey getup for that night. In addition to being quite adjustable in the torso, it has a hidden zipper to assist with getting it on and off. It also has pockets! The material is really soft and thick and feels well made - not cheap at all. The only thing I'm not sure of is if I should've gotten a size smaller. I think because I'm a member of the IBTC the straps were long, even though I'm tall. But it's not enough to try another size. I'm 5'10.5", 37"x32"x41" and the large fits well.

I was so excited for this piece. It looks simply darling on and can instantly sway an outfit to pirate or hobbit, as desired. Sadly there is one major drawback - sizing. Before I ordered I saw a review that it doesn't corset right for plus size...well that reviewer was completely right. It was impossible to get on without completely undoing the corset portion first. I thought okay, so I will just re-thread it to make it fit right. I did re-thread the corset portion and it looked okay for a minute or so in front of the mirror but it will not hold up to being worn throughout the day - it is simply too tight. This is not strictly about the corset section but the whole piece. Overall it just feels far too tight in the shoulder and under-bust area to be able to be worn all day. I find this so disappointing because if it wasn't for that I would just adore this. The look is just right but the sizing is not. For reference, I ordered the 2XL. I have also ordered a dress from Scarlet Darkness in 2XL and it fits like a dream while this feels a size too small. If you are not a plus size girly this would probably work great but sadly I will have to return it. Other things to take into consideration - the fabric is fairly thin and obviously more of a costume piece than everyday wear. I think it works great if you're going for a specific look but I don't think it would stand up to consistent wear. Also, it has pockets (which is a great feature!) but they are a little shallow. I tried to put my phone in the pocket and it felt like it would fall out. I wish they were a little deeper.

Color true to image, very comfortable even in renfaire heat and pouring rain, and durable. I've had mine about 2 years now. I wear it all the time for all kinds of events and weather. Washes well and stands up to dryer. Pockets are solid and fit my phone even with a chunky case. I did tear a small (2-4inches) section of skirt from the front of the bodice but only after 2 years of hard wear and tear and a good yank while not unlaced properly. Took some matching thread and good as new. Zipper is a bit useless, but I just ignore it

This surprised me, but very nice! Pretty good quality, a little on the thin side but that’s almost preferred. The laces in the front are functional, but there’s also a midway zipper on the side to make it easier to get into! The outside of the material feels almost like suede (it’s not but it feels like it), while the inside feels like a typical polyester dress lining. It came pretty wrinkled, haven’t tried getting those out yet, so hopefully it’s fairly easy! Perfect color, and it fits really comfortably (once it’s on, it is partially corsetted after all).

I’d give this Renaissance overdress a solid 3 stars. The overall look is nice and it definitely captures that classic, historical vibe I was going for. The fabric has a decent weight to it and the color is pretty true to what was shown online. That said, there are a few drawbacks. The fit was a bit off—slightly tight in some areas and loose in others—so it didn’t feel as flattering as I’d hoped. The stitching also seemed a little inconsistent in places, which made it feel less durable than expected. I ordered it for a wedding and could not wait to change out of it. It’s wearable for some short events or costumes, but probably not something I’d rely on for frequent use. Overall, it’s an okay piece if you’re looking for something affordable and visually appealing, but it may need a bit of adjusting to really shine and also be comfortable.
