Thank you for your interest in our air purifier. Both the AD 3000 and the 5000 can handle that square footage. The difference is that the 5000 can cycle through the air more times per hour. Generally, the more cycles per hour, the better. The AD 3000 cleans the air: 638 sq. ft. 4x/hour 1,274 sq. ft. 2x/hour The AD 5000 cleans the air: 1,001 sq. ft. 4x/hour 2,001 sq. ft. 2x/hour Please let us know if you have any further questions.

how many ponds of carbon total?

Thank you for your interest in our air purifier. The AD5000 model has 3.3 pounds (1500 grams) of carbon total. 1.65 pounds (750 grams) per filter. However, evaluating carbon by its weight alone is not a good measure of its effectiveness. You could have 10 lbs of carbon made out of coal with larger particle sizes that will have very little effect on removing contaminants. AirDoctor carbon is from high-quality activated carbon sources.
