I purchased 5 different insoles at the same time to try. There were by far the best: Firm form with good health cup Good cushion Little or no arch support Similar thickness to factory insole so my shoes fit the same (this is always a challenge) My test shoes were Scarpa Moraine… these are traditional hiking shoes (very rigid and firm with high torsional stability a deep heel cup, built like a hiking boot but cut low like a running shoe.

I've used these things in most shoes for more than a decade now. They don't work in every shoe. Originally I had some in a pair of Brooks running shoes, but they added more arch support so these feel horrible in the GTS XX I currently own. So I put them in my workboots, which instantly helped with calf & ankle pain from standing on concrete all day. Right now I have some in my slip on tennis shoes that I got for walking on a treadmill while working at my desk since my career changed. They're an old set, but still leagues better than the garbage that came in the shoe. They are a little thicker than insoles typically packed in with new shoes, so make sure you have a little breathing room or else they make an already tight fit too tight. And I don't like the gel hump in the heel out of the box: it's better once it's worn down a little because it's honestly too much at first. I didn't buy them for the cushioning necessarily: I mostly just need the arch support on flatter shoes. Because of that, these have always lasted me just as long as a good pair of shoes lasts me usually. So if you need better arch support and have a little bit of breathing room in your shoe already, try them. They'll likely help.

I find these an excellent liner. I suffer from pain in my heels at times and these alleviate it completely. Very comfortable. Not cheap but they work and have good longevity.
