Lonely Planet Egypt (Country Travel Guide) by Matthew Firestone, Michael Benanav, Tom Hall, Anthony Sattin 10th (tenth) Edition (6/1/2010)

This book was so helpful when we traveled through Egypt. I particularly remember it guided us to a couple of amazing restaurants and after a particularly bustled day, a shop with an uncharacteristically quiet shopkeeper, which was a relief after being yelled at by people in the market! Egypt is an incredible country and I'd love to return... when I go, I'll be taking this book with me again!

The good news is this book is created with the quality paper and pictures of previous Lonely Planets I've purchased (the 2012 photos look like photocopies, and the paper is of reduced quality). The flip side is that this was created before the revolution, therefore, some of the information is slightly out of date, and the prices listed are definitely different in 2012 compared to 2010. That said, it still provides a good quality guide with all the basics you need to set you on your way.

Lonely Planet - good as always. Bit out of date with the prices now (and the politics) but still works fine!

A very good guide book. We used several recommendations from the book and they proved to be spot on. We always use the Lonely Planet guides when going on holiday.

Have bought Lonely Planet books for other countries and find them very informative and will continue to buy for my travels

Bought this for my last vist to Eygpt,last year. The information was very good and pointed me in the right directions to help me enjoy my stay. My rating being low is more because while in Luxor it was nearly impossible to walk in the streets and enjoy the sights without being plagued by sellers every few yards. I will purchase other country guides in the future from the lonely planet range but will probably not return to Eygpt.

I am planning a trip to Egypt in October, and studied Egyptology in college. I am actually still in the process of reading this travel guide cover to cover and I'm about half way through. I can say it had provided amazing tips and advice. I have yet to test it out and see it's accuracy, but there are no lengthy articles, very easy to reference, plenty of helpful suggestions and insider views. Highly recommend this.

Great travel book and a must have when traveling. So useful! Paid such a great price for the book. Worth buying!

Loved this as with all Lonely Planet travel books.

Used it in travel. It's heavy but comes in handy. The book has a lot of information including some of the history.
