Best net!
For anyone like me who brings extra poles, cooler, a tackle box or two, space becomes important especially on a kayak or canoe. The shorter handle, the fact it folds, keeps guests from tripping or stepping on the pole when in a regular boat. It will fit easily into or attached to a tackle box for when you want to go by foot to a great spot.

Out with the old and in with the KastKing
I decided to get the net because of its floating capabilities and the inner depth of the net area. I already have a net that I use on my small pelican bass boat. The issues that I have were almost losing the net on more than one occasion when it accidentally fell into the water. The shallow net area makes it difficult to land larger bass and I would often get my treble styled lures tangled up in the net, which is a complete pain. The KastKing net solve all of those issues. Iโm impressed with the thick floating mesh that helps prevent it from sinking if you accidentally drop it overboard. Being that non threaded material is used for a majority of the net, removing my lure is a heck of a lot easier now. While measuring your fish while itโs in the net isnโt the most practical thing to do, having a measuring scale allows you to get a really close estimate of how long your catch is, which is nice. Although the extended handle is shorter compared to the other net I have, it is very well built and feels solid in my hand. The foam at the end allows for a more secure grip on the net. Locking the extension pole into position is done easily with a few twists. Simply slide the collapsing lever down to easily fold the the net in half for storage in the included storage bag. The fish grips that came with the kit are much larger compared to the one connected to my scale. It has a wider mouth for handling larger fish. I will definitely be swapping out my smaller one for this. Lastly, the included hook remover works as advertised. At first I thought it wasnโt working properly when I initially used all four fingers to pull the hand back. I learn that using you lower two fingers for gripping and your upper two finger to pull the trigger works best and itโs actually very easy to pull back. Overall this is a well built bet and is definitely worth the money. Hope my review helps someone out there.

For fishing and โbattingโ
I needed a small portable fish net for a while and finally settled on this one. Itโs relatively easy to assemble and fold back up for storage. Itโs lightweight and seems to be built well enough to handle traditional pan fish like trout and such. I like the PVC coated net. This will help prevent dry rotting or molding thatโs known for traditional types of hand nets, though I would make sure itโs completely dry before storing it. The only thing I didnโt care for is the handle locking device. I find it a to be a little quirky and question itโs durability, but only time will tell and I will update if it does become an issue. A couple weeks ago a bat, yes a fur-less flying rat, somehow snuck into our house. Probably was sleeping under our door awning and flew in when the door was opened. Anyway, I did the John Candy and Dan Akyroyd scene from The Great Outdoors 1988 movie. LOL, wife was screaming and laughing while I was trying to corral the flying critter, but I was able to using some household items. Anyway, after elevating my heart rate, I caught it and released it outside, but all the while wishing I had a net! I do now and the likelihood of having another โbat-scapadeโ is unlikely, but itโs good to know I have a โjust in caseโ net available is reassuring lol. ๐

Compact, Fish-Friendly Net with Smart Features
The KastKing Pontus Fishing Net is a well-designed tool that combines portability with functionality, making it suitable for various fishing scenarios. Its foldable and retractable design allows for easy storage and transport, which is particularly beneficial for kayak or bank fishing. ๏ฟผ Constructed with a 6063 aluminum alloy handle and a durable FBR frame, the net offers a sturdy build. The handle extends up to 61 inches, providing ample reach, and features a reinforced aluminum rib for added strength. The floating EVA foam padding ensures the net stays afloat if accidentally dropped, reducing the risk of loss. ๏ฟผ ๏ฟผ The netโs mesh is designed to be fish-friendly, minimizing harm to the catch, which is ideal for catch-and-release practices. Additionally, the built-in length scale on the net allows for quick measurements of your catch, though some users have noted it can be challenging to use with the fish inside the net.

Surprisingly Strong and Easy to Store
I picked up the KastKing Pontus Foldable Fishing Landing Net expecting something a bit flimsy, but I was pleasantly surprised. It turned out to be much stronger than I expected, and the folding design is really convenient. Pros: Feels sturdy and well-built Folds up for easy storage and transport Lightweight but still durable Built-in length scale is a nice bonus Cons: None so far In use, itโs held up well and doesnโt feel like itโs going to fall apart when actually landing fish. The foldable design makes it easy to keep in the car or with your gear without taking up much space. Overall: Very impressed overall. Strong, practical, and easy to store, great value for the price.

The 17-13-16 hoop size was smaller than expected.
I have purchased several Kast King rods and reels and have been quite satisfied with their products but I was not satisfied with this net. In full disclosure, KastKing sent me the 17โ-13โ-16โ hoop size (fixed pole) net for free to try out and review. I am an inshore kayak angler and fish for Redfish, Trout, Flounder and other inshore species and occasionally do some Bass fishing. I have owned several collapsible nets. A failure point for these collapsible nets is the locking mechanism. The KastKing locking mechanism is made with a thicker, stronger, and heavier plastic and seems very durable. When I tried to snap the net into place, the hinged area on the locking mechanism was stiff and did not snap in place or close easily. I suspect it will loosen up and work better over time. The nylon covered PVC mesh is well made and the holes in the net are a bit larger than similar collapsible nets. This is a big plus to prevent hooks from getting tangled in the net. The net comes with a storage bag but a more useful and important feature would have been be to include a built in tether on the handle, in order to secure the net on your boat or kayak. Just because a net floats doesnโt mean it canโt drop into the water unnoticed and float away or get taken away by current. The measuring strip on the bottom of the net is not really functional as once you have a fish in the net itโs difficult to see the measurements. The one major problem with this net is that it is just too small. I was surprised by the smaller size of the hoop and net basket, so I took measurements to compare with the advertised measurements. The width of the net hoop is 16โ, not 17โ. The depth is accurate at 13โ, although a depth of at least 15โ would be much better. The length of the net hoop measured closer to 12โ, not 16โ. I tested the net on the water and netted several fish with it. The net handled fish measuring 17โ or less without too much problem but when it came time to net a 24โ Redfish, I had to scoop the fish in sideways and it filled the net. Fortunately, the fish was completely worn out and had stopped fighting when I netted it. If the fish had still been thrashing about, as many fish will do, I would have struggled to get it in the net. When catching bigger fish it is critical to have a net large enough, yet still maneuverable, to hopefully capture the fish on the first try. KastKing offers a larger, telescopic version, of this net with an advertised hoop size of 18โ-17โ-17โ, which is a very appropriate size for most freshwater and inshore saltwater use. For anyone that purchases the larger net please take measurements and post a review as to their accuracy. The larger net may very well be a 4 or 5 star net but the best I can rate this net is 3 stars and recommend it only to those that are not targeting larger fish. I hope this unbiased review helps.
