REVIEW AFTER TWO WEEKS’ USE Sony caught thunder in a cup and called it SRS XB-100. This speaker is pretty loud and clear for its size, purpose and price. It is strictly meant for personal use or a small gathering of 6-8 people at best. Yet this little coffee mug outsmarts every other speaker below 5000 Rs. (Note – this speaker is not loud enough for a party. Those who feel that it is not loud enough for personal use may get an audiological evaluation to see if you have noise-induced hearing loss. Since hearing loss from loud noise (above 70 dB / 70% volume) is irreversible, try to reduce the loudness you listen to and follow 60:60 rule.) AUDIO QUALITY Vocals are loud, crisp and clear. Bass is good but not over-the-top. Good treble. From my experience, I would rate SRS XB-100 for various purposes as below. Playing music files = 10/10 Playing podcasts = 8/10 Call quality = 8/10 Playing YouTube videos = 7/10 Playing Movies & Series = 7/10 Generally, 50%-60% volume was sufficient for audio files to be clear and loud enough. Podcasts needed around 70%. YouTube videos, Movies & Series needed 70%-100% and they largely depended on the quality of file as well. Some old BBC documentaries and series played as clear as any music file at 60% volume whereas Avatar, LOTR series and Spiderman needed at least 80% volume. PORTABILITY The MOST underrated aspect of this speaker. You could take it and hang it anywhere. CHARGING & BATTERY LIFE About 4 to 4.5 hours to charge fully. At around 60% volume, SRS XB-100 lasts for nearly 10 hours, 2 hours less than advertised. At full volume, it lasts nearly 6 hours. But it has no fast charging and the chord provided for charging is very small. These are the only cons I felt. SONY MUSIC CENTRE APP It just tells you how much battery is left, allow connecting with other Sony speakers for stereo effects and updates the software. It serves no other purpose for this speaker. COMPARED TO OTHER SPEAKERS……. From below 5000 range, only Tribit MaxsoundPlus comes close in XB-100’s audio quality. Tribit XsoundGo is not even as good as the good old Sony SRS-XB13 which got replaced by XB-100. To me, XB-100 sounded better than Tribit Stormbox Micro 2, and even Marshall Willen. XB-100 sounds way better even than Sony’s own 24W speaker SRS XE-200. Don’t fall for the gimmick of speakers with more wattage. 1 watt means that speaker can produce maximum 87dB sound within 1 m distance. Whereas as a 20W speaker could produce only 97dB sound within 1 m distance. For comparison, train horns are blown at 90dB. Any sound above 90dB could cause earache and permanently damage hearing. Nobody plays songs and videos at that sound. As the distance increases beyond 1 m, loudness also decreases. So unless you are not looking for a party speaker or something for an outdoor gathering, a speaker below 10W is sufficient. I am NOT talking here about how loud a speaker can get. There is no point in getting a speaker that is just earblastingly loud but lacks any clarity of sound. So yeah. I am completely satisfied with this one. Try it; you too might be.

I ordered this speaker and received one first, but it has very low sound, and when I checked the reviews, all were mentioning it. But for me, the sound was too low; it can't even fill my small room. So I went ahead for a replacement on half mind as if it's the max sound and device isn't faulty it will be bad. But after the replacement, the new one is loud and perfect for my use, which is a small room for personal use. Turns out the first one was faulty. Completely satisfied with the new product.

Waste. Waste.. Waste.... I am extremely disappointed with this speaker. I bought it expecting powerful, clear sound, but the actual performance is far below expectations. The sound quality is weak, the bass is disappointing, and even at higher volumes the audio lacks clarity and depth. It simply doesn't deliver the premium experience that was advertised. For the price, I expected much better performance. This purchase has been a complete waste of money. I regret buying this speaker and would not recommend it to anyone looking for good sound quality. Unless the company improves the product significantly, I will avoid buying from this brand again.

I got these speakers after purchasing a Portronics SoundDrum 1. Having used them for over a month, I have a few observations to share. Let’s start with the negatives, of which there are a few: - If your phone's speakers are inadequate like mine and you're seeking a speaker that can produce a loud sound output, these speakers might not meet your needs. I tried watching a couple of movies and shows with these speakers and found the experience somewhat disappointing. I spent 4,000 INR wanting something loud enough to enhance my movie viewing experience on a laptop and phone. If you are purchasing them for this purpose, these might not be the right speakers for you. And that's it. That is all the negative I have to say about them. Now, let’s move to the positives: - This speaker is ideal for music lovers, especially if you value clarity over loudness. While it doesn’t sound very loud when watching shows on Netflix or other OTT platforms, it’s surprisingly sufficient for music. There have been times when I was amazed by its sound quality, considering how small it is. It's the same size as the Portronics SoundDrum 1. However, the kind of sound it produces is far superior. The bass is a little too strong for my liking, but it definitely sounds better than many cassette players we've had in the past. It is ideal for the kind of music I enjoy. It is when I listen to music that I realize how well I have spent my money. I loved it for its music experience. If you are looking for something with excellent sound quality, these are the speakers for you.

I have been using this speaker for more than a month now and love this for its intended purpose. Sound quality: It has the typical sony sound signature, the mids are good and vocal is clear trable is decent but the bass is very good. It has deep punchy controlled bass not the boomy one(obviously it will not shake the wall of your room) Build quality: It has very good build and rubber like plastic on the surface with is good to touch and the strap is very useful for hanging. Loudness: it is the reason for most of the negative review. It has good volume for intimate listening and bathroom use but if you are looking to fill a room with decent volume than it will disappoint you. If you want this same form factor but a little lound than you can consider jbl go 4. Connectivity: bluetooth connectivity is good and doesn't drop the connection automatically and i don't use the calling function although the mic is good If you want a speaker for intimate listening then go for this one, under 2000 it is a still deal.

I using sony product for long period Tv Since 2016 , Bluetooth Ear bud (Sony WI-200) since 2018 , Sony Headset ( Sony WH- CH520) Since 2024 , Now this one (Sony SRS -XB100 ) every product i enjoyed a lot sound signature is absolutely awesome worth every penny crystal clear due to LDAC and AAC... Yeah i used and own Harman Kardon , Samsung Soundbar one fun fact that Samsung owns (JBL,Harman, Infinity ,AKG,Denon, Bowers and wilkins), so i find same sound signature but sony has unique sound ,Apple Earphone I love it but sony sound quality has it own taste... Battery life is pretty good last very long , looks wise a premium quality , functionality wise pairing feature app features are available, connectivity wise smooth one touch and power on and off i like it especially.. Those who love loudness you will disappoint but but love quality they surely enjoy it a lot....

I love the sound. This little Bluetooth speaker cost me a little more than half a Benjamin and turns my smartphone into a respectable sound system. Plus, it’s compact, portable, battery powered (for approximately six to eight hours at high volumes w/quick recharge using the newest standardized rechargeable/data connection that has a small, rounded-rectangular “pill”-shaped reversible plug), waterproof, and incredibly drop-resistant. When I drop it, instead of worrying I tell myself, "Relax, it's a Sony, it will be fine," and it always is. This is actually my second one. I dropped the first speaker many dozens of times over the past four years (easily 50+) and it continued to play flawlessly. What finally pushed me to replace it wasn’t normal wear and tear. During a cross-town move from Brooklyn to Manhattan, I carelessly packed it in an open box. A sudden stop from the moving van bounced it out of the unsecured box, and a heavy table ended up resting on top of it. Amazingly, it wasn’t crushed or dented. The only issue was a slight decline in sound quality at higher volumes — the bass was no longer as clean. Considering what it survived, I was thrilled to find another one just like it for sale on Amazon. Because it’s affordable and so durable, I kept the original as a backup and bought a new one.

Over delivered on quality for the price. Great little speaker to carry around. The clarity of the bass is what sets it aside for me. Listening to jazz I can clearly hear beautiful double bass lines without distortion - Great product

Este parlantito es pequeño pero funciona muy bien, se empareja facil y rapido, tiene buen volumen, la calidad de audio es muy buena a pesar de que solo tiene un driver, el bajo tiene buena pegada sin distorcionar, los medios se escuchan bastante bien y los agudos estan controlados. Puedes ambientar una habitación o una sala, incluso una reunión de menos de 10 personas. Si deseas ambientar una fiesta en area exterior si debes buscar otras alternativas, para uso personal ya sea en area exterior o interior esta perfecto. Yo lo utilizo para escuchar musica y podcasts desde mi escritorio y wow de 10 el parlantito. NOTA para Audiofilos: En este tipo de parlantes el audio se escucha algo comprimido, hay mas ganancia en el Bajo y aunque esté controlado y no distorcione se mete mucho en las otras frecuencias, los medios estan regulares y los agudos estan redondeados. Ojo no es defecto, es una característica de este tipo de parlantes bluetooth comerciales no importa la marca, el tamaño o incluso el precio, estos estan enfocados para un disfrute musical diferente. Si buscas Hi-End en audio hay todo un mundo de monitores de estudio, DACs. Amps que puedes investigar que te van a brindar otra experiencia musical. Saludos desde MTY México.
