It's pretty large. My kid is 4'5 but there is plenty of room in length and extra height from the back/top. The only caveat is that your head has to go in an elastic hole and then is up against a mesh screen.

How does it stay inflated with your arm out?

As long as you keep the zipper tight around your wrist, it seemed to stay inflated (keeping the fan on).
