This works awesome to remove asphalt stones from shingles going into our downspouts before the water enters our underground pipes. The cost to replace the 4” drain is over $3000 so this is a great insurance policy.

These are functional, but I prefer the look and lower profile of the French Drain man filters. I don't have any connection to either company.

I installed a couple of these in the spring. They were easy to install. Several different fitting sizes included. One catches a lot of debris causing clogging on really heavy rains. Pesky doves find ways of getting their messes past the gutter screens. So far the solution to the clogging is regular cleaning. I am very pleased with this product.

Top part fits perfectly onto the older model bottom. Package says will fit 3 " pipe but alas no dice. However, good product; installed onto original bottom and had a lot of rain [heavy]. Works Great!!!

We purchased these, to catch leaves and debris from going into our catchment. So far it is working fine. The size is perfect. And appearance is good too. Easy to install as well.

I have issues with my current gutter system dumping water right onto the edge of my foundation, which has caused the concrete to be visible. My house is on a slight hill, so I kind of don't want any foundation issues if I can avoid it... As such, I need to install a passthru to a French drain, but I didn't want all the leaves and stuff from the gutter to make it into the drain. That's where this comes into play. Now all that debris is filtered out before it goes into the drain. I still have to clean this out from time to time, but I'd much rather deal with this than all the mess that's in the ground any day.

These are pretty nice additions to keep your rainwater barrel relatively clean from debris. The only downside that I've found with a lot of the Blue Mountain Co products is they use a lot of 3" pipe fittings, and a lot of older residential spouting (at least in my area) is 2x3" aluminum, so you need to buy an adapter or buy different materials. In the case of this leafeater, you can just change the "after leafeater" part of your spouting to 3" - but again, it's just weirdness, not that big of a deal. Functionally, I really like this product and they seem well made. I have been keeping an eye on Blue Mountain rain collection stuff, and I think they have a lot of great products. Not cheap, but not exorbitant.
