Swimline SPAG8939 Complete Wide Mouth Thru-Wall Skimmer

Great skimmer for an above ground pool and easy install, I've used 2 of these on my second pool I installed it while it was full and never had a leak.

This is the least expensive thru-wall skimmer I have found. Reviews for other Hydro Tools skimmers were very good, so I purchased this one as an experiment on my 18" Intex pool. Everything you need is included and they also throw in an adjustable "eyeball" return fitting. Installation is fairly straight forward but one thing you will need is a #3 phillips head screw driver - a #2 will not work. I used a battery drill to get it snug and finished with a had held screwdriver to prevent from over-tightening. This worked well, but but it took some torque to stop it from leaking. My one issue was the hose fitting that connects to the bottom of the housing. I used the supplied teflon tape (which is horrible) and I could not stop the fitting from leaking. I tried three times each time with fresh tape, wrapping it completely about 3-4 times, but is still leaked. It also threaded way up into the haousing which did not seem right. I then got some different teflon tape and wrapped it about 8-10 times. I did have a little difficuly getting the threads started with that much tape, but it started and did not thread all the way up into the housing. This worked and is not currently leaking. In case you are wondering, I have used teflon tape 100's of times and also always wrap in the direction of tightning. Overall, the product from a pure quality standpoint is probably a 3, but at this price I do not expect 5-star quality. I rate the overall product at 5-star because it is functional, includes everything you need, and the price.

This our 2nd skimmer we’re installing we got our 1st one a year ago and still working great just our pool is 24’ long and this 2nd one will help keep the pool cleaner

Not sure if I got a lemon or are they all like this from this company? NO amount of plumber tape was fixing the leak.

I bought this skimmer kit for my Intex 18ftx9ftx52in Ultra XTR Pool Kit. I did not like how this pool had two under water inlets for the filter pump and no surface skimmer intake. I was having to net out a lot of surface debris like bugs and leaves that the under water inlets would not pull in. So I eliminated one of the under water inlets and plumbed that line to this skimmer and there has been a huge improvement. The basket was full of water beetles and leaves/debris within the first couple hours of running. Fairly easy to install, just take your time and double check everything before cutting a fairly large rectangular hole in your pool liner! There are some good youtube installation videos out there that are a big help if you watch first. I am also impressed with the overall quality/build of this kit. Hopefully it holds up in the harsh environment of sunlight and chlorine, time will tell...
