Confirmed - It’s a Dowel.
They are dowels. What do you want from me? No cracks, checks, or splits in package. Smooth OD. I use primarily for flush cut pins and didn’t check straightness. Size seems a little under specification but work fine.

Used for a project that required Rods to suspend parts for painting. No issues, cheap alternative to drill rod

Good dowels
They're true to size, some a little thicker than others, but overall they're pretty consistent. Used these as supports for a prop gun and they hold up very well!

They are not the same size.
I ordered these and got 1" dowels. That is not the fault of the seller, it's Amazon. I kept them and changed my stuff to fit them. I ordered another set and they were slightly undersized and did not fit perfectly. For most stuff they are accurate enough, but they are different sizes.

Great for macrame!
The dowels are fairly smooth, no splintering that I've seen and doesn't snag on the cotton I use. The ladder/cord holder I made demonstrates how durable they are too with at least 15lbs worth of cord. True to size at 12".

They are dowel rods. I guess I've never seen a bad dowel, but these are straight, sturdy, and do the job.

Impressive quality for student activities
These were super smooth, perfect for the math activity I bought them for. I don’t purchase much lumber, but these struck me as a good deal as they are durable enough to be handled, tossed around, and even dropped by students. Good value, too—totally beat hobby store prices.

perfect for crafts.
