This is a really good idea and on two smooth surfaces it would have done the job in a lot less time than with other tools but unfortunately, with small marble tiles the slightest ridge was not easy to negotiate. With a solid grip, I still think that this is a good product and I am glad that I gave it a try, keep it for the next job which is a totally smooth surface and behind taps.

Handy little tool to have. I usually use the scraper type of smoothing tool, but saw this and thought I'd give it a go, and it works really well. Especially good for bridging the gap between grouting in between tiles when using silicone, so you get a nice clean bead. Just make sure you wet it down with soapy water before you use it for lubrication, and to stop the silicone from sticking to it. Also wipe any excess off as soon as it gets on there because once it dries you have no chance. I'd still have severa other smoothing tools for other jobs, but this is handy to have as well. I'd definitely buy it again.

Great idea.... In theory! Crikey, I've never had such a poor finish on silicone. This, I imagine, would be good on a straight run that tapers off to nothing on the finishing run. As soon as you lift it, it leaves a lump. There is SO much waste too. To get the 8mm finish, about twice as much sealant is required just to get the block to pick it up. Cleaning the block is a nightmare with the textures and writing embossed in it. I went over the run I did with my years old tried and tested method (fat sausage finger dipped in water). I had high hopes for this gadget but was really disappointed.

This thing makes grouting and applying siliconized acrylic so much easier and cleaner. It works pretty well on its own even over uneven tile. Add some painters tape and you have yourself a very good two prong solution.
