Can i use a water softener stick inside the water tank?

Although Levoit does not sell any, you may try to find demineralizers to treat your water at your discretion. However, the Classic 300 comes with an installed water filter sponge that is optional and helps catch minerals from hard water.

After filling it with water, how long does it take for the steam to come out? I filled mine, and I've been waiting for awhile.

I don't have this exact one but I have one very similar. Steam comes out right away. Perhaps you might want to contact Levoit. One thing, be sure the tank is set all the way on (not cockeyed). Sometimes I don't get the tank all the way on.

False advertising w/auto shut off? I saw one manufacturers description here say there IS auto shut off. Customers say no/yes. What's true?

Good question! Our Classic 160 humidifier will auto-shut off when the water tank is empty or has been lifted. Just refill the tank and properly place it on the base to continue using your humidifier. Hope this helps!

So far I love this thing. But where is the max fill line?the instructions say not to fill beyond the max fill line but I don’t see one.
