Weck 745 Tulip Jar - 1 Liter, Set of 6 Clear

I absolutely love these Weck jars! I have a feeling by the end of the year I'm going to have a giant collection in a zillion sizes. My goal in ordering these was actually to use them as drinking glasses - but being that I am absolutely atrociously (and embarrassingly) clueless about sizing I didn't realize quite how big a liter actually is. So I received them and realized they'd be used for other purposes. These are amazing quality and you get 6 large jars for such a great price! I am now storing cream of wheat, powdered milk, powdered chili pepper, and other baking ingredients in these. I happily replaced the ugly, messy store boxes for these adorable containers. If you're looking for cute and practical storage for your kitchen (or really anywhere!) I highly recommend these! These are big, but not huge. If you're looking for something that will store an entire bag of flour this is not your product. The jars are made of high quality, thick glass that does not feel like it will break easily. They have a wide mouth with a bit of an outer lip. The rubber ring easily rests on top and I only occasionally have to readjust when I place the glass lid on. It stays in place quite well. The metal fasteners are very easy to use as well and keep it securely closed. The jars are a cinch to clean with a little dish soap and water but can also go in the dishwasher. Edit: They have kept my dry ingredients quite fresh thus far. I still find them easy to use with a little patience (patience compared to crumpling the top of my flour bag and tossing it back in the cabinet). I am going to be purchasing another set of these when I move because I've found them to be so convenient.

Love these. Sturdy, thick, well packaged and well made. Heavy, but not too heavy. Sturdy lids. Totally worth it. We use for sourdough starter and also to give sourdough starter to friends. Perfect for starter as easy to clean and mark. You can mark it with a permanent marker to help judge the rise, then easily wipe off the marks when washing. (We put these in the dishwasher, but use a dish brush on the marks first as the washer doesn't always get them off. With a dish brush it takes 2 seconds to remove the marks.) These also feel strangely elegant to use - we love them!

The Weck tulip jars are sturdy, simple to use for canning and storage, lovely aesthetic, as well. From the comments read here, I was fortunate as one of the purchasers who received my jars intact. I was worried about the possibility of breakage during shipping. After receipt of my first order of Wecks, I placed my order for a second group of six smaller jars following close examination of my first purchase. The quality of these jars is excellent, while the packaging, truth be told, needs rethinking. I truly was one of the fortunate ones with this purchase. Crossing my fingers that my second order arrives intact, too.

These are great for sourdough starter...easy to clean and look pretty on the counter. I was using 16 oz canning jars, but those are harder to clean and to pour in the starter. Although they don't look like a liter, they do hold that amount. Wish they weren't so expensive, but they seem worth it so far. True what other reviewers have said about the clamps being potentially easy to lose, but I don't use them unless I'm storing something.

I wish I'd kept my mouth shut about how great these are! Now I can't even reorder them lol. They are gorgeous. You need to order a lifter or you'll have a tough time controlling the jars when lifting. The European gasket system works really well. I only have 6 and used them for peach pie filling, beautiful, all sealed. I actually think this system may work better than what we in the US are accustomed to using.

Good value.Attractive clean lines..Fits well in storage area. Quite sturdy, even though it is not very heavy. The wide opening makes it very easy to pour kefir in and out. Not as secure hold as the heavy clamps in jars used for pickling under pressure, but has worked well for making kefir. The rubber collar is thin and takes patience to place on top of jar. The metal clamps are fairly easy to use, I have difficulty using my hands due to injuries. One needs to be meticulous about keeping track of the clamps and the rubber collar. I could see this being a problem when I had small children, but one can buy extra clamps from the manufacture. They are a little more expensive than buying from the manufacturer but I personally found it easier to use Amazon as the ordering and shipping is more convenient. I would be very happy if there were a similar design in a gallon size. Good service from Amazon.

After using several types of jars for sourdough starter, I have finally found a jar that has really worked out great. The size is perfect, the wide mouth makes it easy to fill and clean. My only complaint is that they are a bit pricey. That is why I bought a six pack, I will keep three and sell off three for half the price of a single on amazon and hopefully, my end costs for my three jars will be reasonable. I guess also, the seals do not seem to be that easy to put on with the lid clips, but I never use the seals since I want my starter to breathe a little, I either just place the lid on the jar without the gasket and clips, or i will just use the clips if I am storing the starter in the refrigerator Anyways, great product for my needs.

I ordered these because I needed glass containers that had lids that would stay on, but didn’t need to be air tight - mainly I use them for sourdough starter. I’ve now had them for months and love them. Except for the one lid that broke (My fault - I was removing the weird clips when I pulled them out of the box and the lid leapt and crashed to the floor) there have been no problems. They clean easily, seem to deal with temperature differences with ease, and are perfect to culture my starter in. Now I have not used them with their ‘air tight’ additions - the rubber that would sit between the lid and jars and the annoying clips to hold the lids closed. So I cannot attest to that. But as containers for what I use them for, they’re perfect.

Is it wrong to be in love with a set of jars? Arrived quickly in perfect condition. I will need to wait until next year to add to my collection. Just so handsome.

These are very attractive jars. Ample size for leftover soups, or to gift cookie mixes. I wanted to try my own sourdough starter, and thought these would be perfect. They are large enough to get your hand in, so I may use one for nuts or small goldfish type crackers. They are attractive to display in an open or cabinet style cupboard. I love these and would buy again.

I purchased these 6 jars when I made my own sourdough starter. They have been a perfect size for making enough starter for double batches of loaves. I just use the glass lid by itself, without the rubber seal or clamps, when my starter is sitting on the counter. The top of the jar is wide enough for your hand to wipe them out before washing and they do great in the dishwasher. It's also nice that there are 6, so that you can have one in the wash, while using the other one and switch off every other day or so. Would definitely recommend to anyone starting out in making their own sourdough at home!
