Wanted Childhood Memories
I have not had these since childhood, so had been looking for plants for a couple years, but no garden center had them. This year I bought the seeds. I live in New England and started growing the seeds indoors. The first batch I planted, no seeds came up after 14 days. I tried a second batch and realized the seeds need to be dropped on the surface and not covered (they might be triggered to germinate by light). This time, every seed sprouted. Not all sprouts matured, because the seed cover stayed on some sprouts. I have moved them outside and now I am waiting for the end of the summer! I expect, many of the one star reviews did the same thing I initially did and covered the planted seeds, because once I put the seeds on the surface, there was close to 100% that germinated.

Nothing grew
I purchased these seeds a couple months ago, tried twice but they never started to grow. I start all my vegetable seeds every year , so I know what I’m doing but these seeds were all dead. So find another seller and have better luck! Total waste of time and money! I’d give it zero stars but it wouldn’t let me

Quality seeds. Geminated well
It comes in real seed package as the some seeds I bought on Amazon came in none descriptive non-labeled brown envelops. Most importantly the seeds germinated well, and the small plants are very healthy. They are high quality seeds. However, Chinese lantern is not easy seed to germinate. You need experience and care required for this type of seeds. You need a clay pot, garden soil, softest pot soil (goes on the top layer), and a plastic bottle water sprayer. All of them are from Walmart. After the soil is well watered, put finger pinch of seeds, then finger pinch of the pot soil to cover, about 1/8 inch deep. Put it outside, you need good sun light. Cover it with clear glass plate (also from Walmart) to protect from birds, and heavy rain. Water everyday with water sprayer. It took me about 5 weeks to germinate. At a certain point you no longer use the glass plate. The weather was cold in my area. When weather is ideal it takes about 2 to 3 weeks to germinate. When the plant becomes about 1 inch tall, I bury the whole pot in the garden and let the nature takes care. After 2 or 3 year it spreads all over the place. The dried lanterns last 3 to 4 years. The orange color gradually fade and the lanterns crumble.

Finally
I have tried to grow these things (Chinese Lanterns) for almost 10 years. Gotten seeds from various suppliers. Total failure. I ordered this product and -to my amazement- after a short while I have small shoots emerging from my soil. I can't give a long term experience on these. Nor can I -keeping in mind that the lanterns don't grow until the 2nd year- provide comments on appearance of the lantern (flowers). But they ARE GROWING. I have never encountered anything more difficult to grow from seed than Chinese Lanterns and THIS supplier provide the ONLY seeds that have ever sprouted. Recommended.

Chinese Lanterns have sprouted and life is good!
Wanted to grow these Chinese Lantern’s as I have strong childhood memories of them and my wife wanted them for fall decorations. I read the reviews for this sellers seeds and decided to go with them. They arrived in just two days and have very attractive seed packaging. Planted as instructed immediately . Used seed starter mix as directed on the surface, waters lightly and put them outside in direct sunlight. Watered to or three times every day to keep the seeds and soil moist. Bingo! After 15 days dozens of seeds have germinated and sprouted. I know it won’t likely bloom for a year so I will update this this fall or next year and give this product 5 Stars of all goes as expected. Seed by the way looked very fresh right out of the package. Will be giving plants to other parents I know for their kids as they are such a great novelty plant around Halloween!😎👍
