Fun for my son
This was a fun little kit for my 8 year old son. It was educational as he learned quite a bit as he was going through it. It was pretty easy for him to do himself, but he did have to be careful with it and there are some pieces that can make a bit of a mess. This was cute and safe for him to do independently.

Don't waste your money
Don't waste your money! This kit greatly over-promises and under-delivers. The fingerprinting options are useless, including the ink. The fun invisible ink options do not work; the blue light pen does work okay for the moment. The instructions use broken English.

Not for little ones
The product listing says good for 4-10 year olds and after buying this for my 4 year old grandson I can confirm that it is not great for the younger end of that age range. The corn starch is just a mess waiting to happen.

WARNING not for kids.
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS KIT! it contains Iodophor solution in an easily opened container bottle. It tells children to hold a piece of paper over a candle (supplied) to reveal hidden writing. It says it is for children 3+, but I can’t image giving this to a child. Detective notebook is poorly translated with many garbled sentences which make the directions impossible to read. This is a cool idea, but dangerously executed. It requires direct adult supervision. warning label on box says poison included! I am thankful, i was close when grandson decided to play with it. I have reported this to the Consumer Products DIVISION.

Just go ahead and try to read the first page of the instruction manual. I can’t believe this is sold to kids and families. I’m Getting a refund. What a joke
