This cream has a good shelflife and can be stored in your pantry until you open it at which point it would then need to be kept in the refrigerator. There is approximately 1/2 cup worth of cream in this can. It is not sweetened. If I had to compare it to something, I would compare it to a Devonshire cream in consistency. It is not at all like Cool Whip. It is much thicker and much denser.
