hi will these fit standard bike exercise machine so i can use for arm exercise instead of pedaling

The fitting is a standard screw fitting the same as most exercise bikes, without seeing yours I cannot say 100% if they will fit. They will fit the MagneTrainer which they are designed for originally

How far apart are your hands when you pedal with the ergo pedals? I have a shortened tendon in one arm and so i need to know if the distance.

480mm apart and about 350mm reach (i.e. from front foot of the machine). As N. W de K said ... just a bit wider that the original pedals. However you might also want to take into account that your hands/wrists will be rotated 90 degrees. My feedback on these pedals: major improvement in quality over the original. But not as comfortable to use as I expected. Ideally I would alternate between my hands being vertical and horizontal. The horizontal position is awkward due to the curved shape. Would I buy them again? Yes on grounds of quality/reliability. But 7/10 for overall satisfaction. Hope this helps.
