Incredible image and large field of view!
Image quality is nothing short of perfect. What you would expect from Swarovski. Edge to edge clarity as they advertise. And huge field of view makes it easy to find animals with the scope on 17x, and then it's easy to zoom in to 40x to really get up close. about the image quality in the product description, I can vouch for them that it's all true.I have put off buying a scope for a long time, because I didn't think I would use it because it would be cumbersome. Wrong!!! This scope is light, I think less than 5 pounds. I bought a light tripod and a pack that the tripod attaches to, so it is really easy to carry. Of note, the scope has a small area for scope attached to a tripod, so get one that fits.It comes with a half shell base for use without a tripod. Mainly for hunters or the occasional birder that doesn't mind getting down on their belly in the dirt so you can place the scope on a rock or such to look down over a ridge into a valley. Not necessarily the most practical for birding. The photos of Harbor seals above are taken with two different phone cameras. The images came out alright, but more "evidence" pics, not necessarily quality images. That was from our first time trying though, so practice will make it better. As a bird lister, evidence shots are important. The otters and pelicans were taken later, so it does get better with practice. This is my 5th Swarovski purchase. My first binocular from 1994 broke a strap attachment in 2008, and they replaced them with a new, more recent model. They are also prompt in sending new eyecups and lens covers when they wear out, all for free. The tried and true warranty had a lot to do with my ATC scope purchase.Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase!Well worth the money!!!
