Great gift
Bought this as a gift for my 18 year old son and he loved it. The bracelet seems very well made and is easy to put on and take off. The color is great for the outdoorsman and it has a nice fit. He really liked all the different features the bracelet has to offer. He loves exploring the outdoors so this was an excellent addition for him.

Overall, attractive and functional--but reflect a budget build.
These do not run large at all. Although I am 6' and 210#, my wrists are small. I ordered Medium. They are a good fit, but there is very little extra space on wrists. I cannot simply twist or rotate clasp from one side of wrist to the other.* The cords themselves appear well made.* "Whistle" is mere extruded plastic in clasp--do not expect much.* Compass is modest, and slow to register.* Fire starter is also minimal. These three tools are mere "back-ups" to serious, better made devices. If I order more, I'll get larger size.

too bad they don't allow half stars cause this is really ...
too bad they don't allow half stars cause this is really a 3.5 star for me due to sizing information. the photo chart is a good start, but keep in mind the buckle has components on it that make it a little longer than most. buckles dont bend so the "circle" measurement of your wrist is misleading. example: my wrist measures just a little under 8", so I went with medium. if you like a tight watchband this will probably be fine for you. I like some looseness and the longer buckle takes out the looseness slack and makes it nearly impossible to turn it once on the wrist. so measure your wrist and go with the length that is close if you like snug or go a size up if you like loose. if you have a really big wrist take the buckle off and weave your own that's bigger.as for the bracelet itself it's pretty good. the whistle and compass are decent. whisltle is fairly loud unless your lips cover the hole too much, that's operator error. the fire striker was my main goal and works well. for those expecting perfection out of the box, you don't get it with ferrite rods. all ferrite rods come with a "paint" like coating on them, so until you scrape past that you likely wont' get much of anything. keep trying. once your past the paint there is plenty of very hot sparks to ignite TINDER. if you think sparks will set a small stick on fire by itself you should limit your camping to a hotel.

Christmas Gifts
These were Christmas gifts and well received. One caution is don't put a magnet up onto it. The pink one I kept now has a compass that is not right because I used a magnet. You have to keep the compass level for it to point in the right direction. I tested it and it seems to be pretty accurate. I'd check it if you are going off into the deep woods.

All as advertised, but a couple caveats (updated)
(UPDATE: A year later, I have to update and take a star off. For whatever reason, be it poor quality materials, or the compass staying too near the magnetized spark striker, a year later the compass no longer works. At all. Even when it's not near the striker (see below what that's about). Firestarter still works fine, still has a working whistle, and the cord is still cord :) But the compass is kind of why I got it, and now it's no good. Maybe should take 2 stars off, but I guess you get what you pay for.)I have an exactly 8" wrist and got the Medium bracelet. The first few times putting it on, it's just tight enough to pinch the skin when it clasps, but it's starting to loosen up. I think the large would be too large for me.As others have said, so I was prepared for it, the compass does not work when it's clasped closed. The metal striker somehow interferes. I think this will be the case on ALL the emergency bracelets with compasses and firestarter's though, so it's not unique to this product. Rubbing the flint and steel magnetizes the striker. So to use the compass, you either have to take it off and hold the bracelet, or, remove the metal striker and re-attach onto your wrist. As for the firestarter, there is a coating on the flint rod that has to be scrapped away before any sparks will generate, so don't try it just a few times and think it doesn't work. After scraping off the coating until I got sparks, I then only had to strike it "for real" twice to be able to ignite a puff of dryer lint! So, works perfectly great! All in all, this is the best set of paracord "survival" bracelets for the cost!

How to use the compass
Excellent tool for the price! I must inform everyone how to use the compass. The metal scraper, when when the bracelet is clasped, will interfere with a compass. Unclasp the bracelet and hold the compass at waist level or above and it will show a true reading. Every now and then I shake and rotate my compass slightly to get it back on track to show true north.

Great quality!
The hope is that I won't have to use this, because it is in our 72 hour kits and for emergencies while camping, but the durability and quality of the product looks great. We tested out the compass and it seems to be pointing North appropriately but wouldn't be my first choice for direction. Love that it came in pink!
