How to Properly Use a Retractable Dog Leash? 1. Make sure your dog is well trained and easily controlled. 2. Check to make sure your dog's collar or harness fits snugly. Extend the leash with the brake button to attach the metal buckle to the "D-ring" of the collar/harness. 3. Always hold the leash by the handle, NEVER by the belt. Holding the belt while it's retracting may cause injury. 4. Once attached, extend the leash to a comfortable walking distance. 5. Make sure your dog isn't so far that you can't pull them back in a hazardous situation! 6. If your dog gets too far, lock the brake button and lower your arm to your side. While walking, unlock the brake to pick the slack from the leash. Repeat this until your dog is close enough to you. 7. If you think your dog may encounter a hazardous situation, keep your dog close to your side with the brake pressed and the leash extended to only a short length. 8. DO NOT give the leash too much slack. This could harm you and your dog of they decide to bolt off somewhere! 9. If your leash gets wet during your walk, extend the leash to it's maximum length to let it dry. 10. Let your dog rest during and after your walk if they have to, especially if it's hot! 11. Above all, make sure to enjoy yourself! This is quality time that you get to spend with your beloved pet.

Retractable doggy lead.
A most excellent lead! Any lead that can survive having a deranged Springer Spaniel fixed onto it, must be incredibly tough. I like the fact that the lead has a fabric "tape", rather than cord. This is rather more kind on your hands if you are unfortunate enough to to touching / holding the tape when your pooch suddenly takes off in a random direction at the speed of light. The "stop and lock" mechanism is very efficient and the handle is comfy to hold. The lead at full extension goes to about 16 feet, which is about as far away as I would be happy to allow a marauding doggy to roam whilst still on the lead. Oh, and I like the purple colour of our lead (the dog probably does not care about the colour, or much else for that matter, but it keeps her safe).

Would recommend.
Great lead. I love the solid design of the handle but the smooth finish, making it comfortable to hold for long periods of times. Always retracts easily and reaches a great length. The locking system is easy to use, one push button and always remains secure. The best feature of this lead is its width and the material it is made from. Unlike thinner leads, there is no chance of getting burns on the skin if this catches you, for me this is important as out daughter also holds the dog when on walks. Fantastic lead, design and colour.

Not at all bad for the price but...
The lead arrived in good time and in a lovely box. Thank you. I have an English Bull Terrier who pulls A LOT... she is approx 30kg in weight - so this lead is meant to be suitable. The lead has not broken, yet, but the handle part of the lead is very lightweight and the button too. I fear it wont last long at all. Not at all bad for the price I paid, but I do wish I had spent a little more for a lead that feels a little more substantial.

Does the job!
So much better than the old cord type, which always ends up in knots wrapped round someone's ankles. It is easy to reel the lead in and out but I sometimes have to resort to using both hands to push the locking button...but that might might just be my pathetic thumbs! It isn't as heavy as some extendable leads but feels very robust and strong enough for my medium sized dog who often likes to suddenly bolt after a bunnie!

A little awkward for small hands
This lead is for the person with large hands, i have medium size hands really and i find it heavy to hold and difficult to use the notch to stop the lead so this is a lead for someone with big hands, so my husband uses this lead and i use another that fits my hand.

lead
This is a very comfortable to hold and very strong lead, my dog may only be small but she's broken two similar leads and one of them I paid more money for, I'm very pleased with this purchase

Great lead
Great lead. I like the fact it's flat tape instead of the usual cord.

Brilliant lead and it seems to be very strong
Brilliant lead and it seems to be very strong. I have a 40kg dog and so I needed a good lead that could withstand pulling if needed and I think this is perfect for the job :)
