Easier than pie.
Needed a pair of scrub pants hemmed. Went to my local dry cleaner who does alterations - $25 to hem. No way. Watched a few YouTube vids on various sewing machines. Bought this HTVRONT mini sewing machine. Arrived quickly. Looked pretty sound and had all the stuff including thread. Scanned the better than average instruction book and gave it a go. Outstanding. Yeah, I suck at sewing but the machine did exactly what it was suppose to do and my first try was a success. So far I have only hemmed two pair of pants and fooled around putting 'hems' on random squares of cloth and it has performed like a champ. I don't know that I will ever use it for anything other than hemming pants but it was certainly worth the money and now I have an additional useful skill.

Works well
I haven't had this long so I can't comment in longevity but as far as working it works beautifully right out of the box. I have sewn before but always something basic so I just wanted something simple and small and this fit the bill! It comes threaded!

Trash
I would give this a 0 star but I couldn't. This thing is a piece of garbage. Doesn't work correctly. To thread this thing is nuts and gets stuck every other stitch!!

Good for beginners
Item reviewed: HTVRONT Mini Sewing Machine for Beginners - Portable Sewing Machine with ExtensionDate reviewed: January 26, 2024I am not a sewer, so this is a good machine for beginners. Comes with everything you need to get started sewing. Instructions are decent. For small projects and things like fixing rips, this is a good starting place.I like that it's already threaded!

Hesitant
As someone who has been around sewing machines much of my life, I wanted something small that I could take with me on the occasion because I'm always sewing on something. While this does fit the bill as far as size, I am hesitant about whether it will stand the full test of time.First and foremost, this machine is LOUD - my original intention was to take this on trips when I see my family and since I am a night owl and they are not, this machine probably will be too loud to use. I am a quilter and I would even be worried about taking it on quilting retreats or classes because it's so loud.Second - there is no way to adjust the stitch length - it sits firm at 8 stitches per inch. This will be okay for single hems, but if you are actually considering making clothes, I would advise stitching each seam at least twice. Another thing is that there is no way to do any back stitching unless you turn the wheel and given how this machine sounds, I'm not sure it would last that long if you do it that way, which is why I suggest stitching the seam twice. If it's a hem, that can easily be fixed by sewing around whatever you're hemming, then sew an additional 6 to 8 stitches ON TOP of the beginning stitches. This will lock everything in place. There are no additional stitches with this machine, just the straight stitch. This is a system that you can use two bobbins instead of one bobbin and a spool of thread, however, you can use a spool if you so choose. Instructions will tell you how to do it.The light is horribly dim, so make sure that you use it somewhere that's well lit. There is no viable way to clean the machine. Any and ALL threads and fabrics produce lint to some degree and the needle plate is not removable so you can clean it out. Lint is one of the biggest sewing machine killers on the planet, if you accumulate too much lint under the needle plate and around the bobbin, it can cause some major issues with tension and will eventually stop your machine from running smoothly. One last thing, this machine will not take additional feet, even though it is a low shank system, the screw isn't large enough to put other feet on it. Doing so and you risk damaging the machine or worse, hurting yourself. I wouldn't try it at all. What are my thoughts overall? It's a cute little machine and I think it might make a good starter machine for a pre-teen or early teen. If stored and taken care of properly, this machine could last a little while, but keep that in the back of your mind that eventually, it will need to be replaced. While my original intention was to have it as a travel machine, I think I'm delegating this one to short, easy sewing projects or repairs if I can use straight stitches to do it. I'm just not that impressed.
