I removed the plastic hand-screw fitting from the existing fitting, fitted the nylon washer, and be pushed the rubber dome onto the thread from beneath. I then put a large M8 'penny' washer on, and then an M8 hexagonal nut. Tightened the nut using a spanner which meant I could get a good 'grip' on it, since the toilet is in the corner, and I wouldn't have been able to get my hand down there to tighten anything much (which was probably why the toilet seat was wobbly in the first place).These appear to be working fine - no movement of the toilet seat. If it did start to move I guess I could tighten the nut a bit more - hopefully I would avoid cracking the porcelain!

It's good, but if you need a couple of washers for a loo seat then try cutting them out of an old cycle inner tube. It worked for me.

Delivered promptly and been fitted now for 48 hours with no obvious issue. Previous nylon washer had split, so will need to wait a while to see if the new ones are any more robust than the previous one supplied with the toilet seat (which was in use 6 months but installed new).
