This is a great mic for dialogue and really does sound great, it'd be very hard to get a mic of this quality at this price. And Yes, it sounds very similar to the Rode NTG. Build quality is excellent, power button is sturdy with a nice weight. It has a very clear battery indicator and gives around 60hrs use on one charge from a USB C charger (cable included). The gain dial is very smooth and the shock mount feels sturdy and flexible, though it won't stand up to a lot of rough handling. The two low cut filters sound good and work to help reduce wind or traffic noise. The fluffy windscreen isn't great, in fact you'll need to replace it, even if used with the foam windscreen as it does a poor job of wind reduction. Inside is just fine. The hardshell case is a lovely freebie and fits everything in securely. You'll also get the relevant 3.5mm cables to hook up the mic to a phone, camera or field recorder. Now for the sound quality. It's absolutely superb. As someone who has a number of high quality field mics, I was blown away by how beautifully deep and rich the sound is and with a nice tonal range, you can capture really great dialogue that sounds truly professional. The frequency response is quite flat so responds to EQ nicely. It's best to use the mic with a good preamp or a good quality field recorder as the mic is somewhat noisy at about gain level 4-5 but this isn't a massive problem as it EQ's out pretty well.

I used my Rode Video Micro for all of my videos on YouTube, but I am switching to the Comica VM20 because it is more crisp and clear when it comes to sound quality. Also, it is perfect for a studio or indoor recording. The mic steples gain is very accurate and helps a lot set up your levels without messing with my camera mic setting. Overall the shotgun mic is of perfect quality in this price range, and with 60 hours battery life, you can't go wrong. If you plan to use the mic outdoor, make sure it is not very noisy around your set. The wind muff is not very thick and will allow you to pick noises. Also, be aware is not a weatherproof microphone. Saying this, I am recommending this microphone 100% for any of you who needs a quality studio mic but doesn't have a big budget to spend. It is a fantastic product.

Why I Bought It? - I wasn't familiar with Comica, but already loved their lavalier mic. Needing a hyper-cardioid mic for a home studio setting, I took a chance on the VM20. The A/B test against my camera's built-in mic was a night-and-day difference. Even at 6 feet away, the isolation and clarity are outstanding. Interviews are about to get a whole lot better. Factory settings deliver rich, clear audio. While the mic can be a tad sensitive at times (picking up distant noises), adjusting the gain and noise reduction options helps achieve great results every time. The 150Hz filter setting can sound unnatural, so I stick to the 75Hz option for managing unwanted noise in post-production. The rotary gain knob is a nice touch, and the battery life seems impressive. The dedicated storage case is a nice touch too.

Absolutely fantastic microphone, especially considering the affordable pricetag. I own both the Rode Videomic Go (£50) and the Rode Videomic Pro+ (£250) and the Comica VM20 sounds far better in terms of audio quality and clarity, so for those looking for an affordable mic for vlogging, the VM20 is the obvious choice. It also beats the Rode mics in terms of functionality, with its USB-C charging, OLED battery readout and gain adjustment, none of which are options on Rode's microphones. It is also much smaller and lighter than the Rode Videomic Pro+, something which is very attractive for vloggers out there. It is built well, made of metal (compared with the Rode's plastic build) and feels more robust for sure. I highly recommend overall - this microphone is the Rode beater!

A few things really impressed me about this mic, I love the fact it comes in a sturdy carry case which most more expensive microphones (particularly from RODE) don't include and considering microphones are sensitive pieces of tech it's great to have that added security. USB C charging is a great new addition. I hated the old Rode Video Mic that needed a 9V battery. Stepless gain wheel is great for when you need to manually adjust the audio on the fly. Great to include both a foam windshield and a fluffy deadcat. Audio quality recorded on this microphone is generally fantastic especially at this price and it's great that you're supplied a cable for phones and cameras, although it's a shame it's not like the single RODE cable which auto detects the output device. Not a deal breaker though. OLED battery display is really helpful for knowing when the battery is running low and you can charge it via a powerbank if you need extra power on a shoot. It's a well built, well presented microphone with a case, cables and wind muffs. The Comica pics up sound really well. It has an on board rechargeable battery which allows it to supply it's own power. I has to get a trs to c port connector cable as it did not come with that connector. Then the microphone worked brilliantly.

This was my first shotgun mic. I use it with a Canon ESO 80D. I wanted it mostly for making videos of hiking trips, to shut out the terrible wind noise you always get in the mountains. Even with the dead rabbit covering it doesn't completely stop the wind noise but it does reduce it a lot. One thing that bugs me about this mic is the on/off switch. For a start you have to turn the mic on every time you turn the camera on, it doesn't happen automatically. So you will end up turning the camera on and forget to turn the mic on. Plus, to turn it on you have to press a button and hold the button down for a few seconds until it powers on. That sounds really petty but if you wanna shot something in a panic, like a bird or an animal appearing from the bushes, then the dame thing may well be gone by the time you turn the mic on. This kind of thing won't be a problem if you just wanna film stuff indoors and whatever. The actual sound quality of the mic isn't that amazing. It's just marginally better with the mic than without it. If you go into your camera settings and turn up the volume manually then this will help. Make sure your camera is set to Movie mode first or you won't have the option of adjusting the sound. Basically, I adjust the volume of both my camera and the mic every time I use it because the weather/wind is always different on every trip. I just do a few little trail runs before I start filming. Overall I'd say this mic is ok for the money, it really does depend on what you want it for. If it's just for making silly videos and stuff then it's fine. It you wanna be the next Spielberg then I'd suggest spending a bit more money.

I was pleasantly surprised with the sound quality of this microphone. It has a really nice flat eq so you can make it sound however you like in post. I prefer it to the rode video mic pro plus because it is more pleasing without any processing. Things to be mindful of: fluffy windshield isn't the best quality but i'll be using this indoors so that's no bother for me. Microphone doesn't switch on/off automatically when camera power is on/off. If you're vlogging it might be worth paying extra for a mic with this feature but for indoor use, i'm fine with it. Other than that, the microphone is amazing. Great quality and I like the gain control knob.

Direkt vorweg - ich habe für einen unabhängigen Test dieses Mikrofon kostenlos zur Verfügung gestellt bekommen - allerdings nur unter der Voraussetzung, dass ich natürlich alles ehrlich und offen sagen darf wie ich es finde. Ich betreibe seit Jahren einen kleinen Technikkanal auf YouTube und war vor einigen Jahren auf der Suche nach der endgültigen Lösung für mein Mikrofonproblem. Also habe ich mich damals dazu entschieden das "Rode Video Mic Pro" (Heute ca. 160€) zu kaufen und auf Herz und Nieren zu testen. Letztlich kam hierbei raus, dass das "Rode Video Mic Pro" zwar einen sehr guten Klang hat - die Tonqualität eines sehr günstigen Mikros, des "Pixel MC-50", welches ich einfach aus Neugierde bestellt hatte, um zu sehen wie viel "Ton" man für wenig Geld bekommt, letztlich so ähnlich war, dass ein minimales Anheben der Bassfrequenz bei der Nachbearbeitung den Ton so ähnlich machte, dass ich damals selbst beim Schnitt der Review mehrfach durcheinanderkam, welches der beiden Mikrofone ich gerade hörte bzw. zu welchem Mikrofon die Tonspur nun gehörte. Also entschied ich mich damals die (heute) 160€ zu sparen und stattdessen zum "Pixel MC-50" zu greifen, welches nur ca. 33€ Euro kostet. Dieses hat mir dann die nächsten 2 Jahre auf meinem YouTube-Kanal wirklich richtig gute Dienste geleistet und die Tonqualität war - bei entsprechend eingerichtetem Raum so gut, dass denke ich niemand meiner Zuschauer darauf gekommen wäre, dass all dies von einem 33€ Mikrofon kommt. Natürlich aber auch in Verbindung mit dem "Zoom H1" als Aufnahmegerät. Daher war für mich auch klar, dass das "CVM-VM20" einiges bieten müsste, um von mir empfohlen zu werden - schließlich sind 33€ gegen 149€ nicht gerade ein Pappenstiel. Letztlich muss ich jedoch sagen, dass ich nicht ganz weiß, ob ein Vergleich, welcher sich nur auf die Klangeigenschaften beschränkt überhaupt wirklich fair ist. So hat das "Pixel MC-50" keinen integrierten Akku, muss also mit zwei AA Batterien (oder Akkus) betrieben werden, hat keine stufenlose Lautstärkeregelung, die mitgelieferte "Spinne" ist kaum vorhanden bzw. nur ein winziges Plastikteil, welches keinen unglaublich verlässlichen Eindruck macht und im Lieferumfang ist weder ein Case noch eine "Dead-Cat" enthalten. Dazu ist die Verarbeitungsqualität des "CVM-VM20" auf einem komplett anderen Level als die des "Pixel-MC-50" während dies aus billig wirkendem Plastik besteht hat das "CVM-VM20" eine hochwertig wirkende fast schon magnesiumartige Hülle, die sich metallisch kühl und sehr wertig anfasst und Langlebigkeit und Verlässlichkeit erwarten lässt. Das "CVM-VM20" wirkt einfach hochwertig aufgebaut und extrem gut verarbeitet. Dazu ist das Audiokabel komplett austauschbar, was beim "Pixel-MC-50" nicht der Fall ist - sollte dies also mal kaputt gehen muss man sich dort ein neues Mikrofon kaufen. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Das 33€ "Pixel-MC-50" ist klanglich so gut wie gleich auf mit dem "Rode Video Mic Pro" für 160€ kostet dabei allerdings nur einen Bruchteil - das "CVM-VM20" klingt nocheinmal besser als das "Pixel-MC-50" mit deutlich besserer Richtcharakteristik und vor allem einem deutlich besseren und "näherem" Klang in halldenen Räumlichkeiten. Bietet eine viel bessere Verarbeitung, die keinen Anlass zur Sorge gibt, dass das Mirkofon bald kaputt gehen könnte. Hat zudem einen integrierten Akku mit geschätzt mindestens 30 Stunden Laufzeit [hier muss man im Rahmen der Nachhaltigkeit jedoch bedenken, dass dieser nicht wie "Batterie-Akkus" einfach getauscht werden kann], kann über USB C geladen werden, bietet eine stufenlose Lautstärkeneinstellung [die jedoch in meinem Test gerade in den Mittlereneinstellungen nicht allzugroße Unterschiede macht] und einen sehr großen Lieferumfang inkl. Case, Dead-Cat und vernünftiger Mikrofon-Spinne und dazu einen Klang der meiner Meinung nach mit dem Video Mic Pro auf einer höhe, wenn nicht sogar noch etwas darüber ist. Dh also: Es klingt nocheinmal besser als das 33€ Budget "Pixel-MC-50" (und somit auch als das "Rode Video Mic Pro) und lässt dieses in Punkto Verarbeitung und Features meilenweit hinter sich - und bietet gleichzeitig Features wie z.B USB-C und den integrierten Akku (welcher jedoch für die Nachhaltigkeit Nachteile hat) welche bei Herstellern wie z.B Rode erst ab 256€ beim Rode Video Mic Pro+ vorhanden sind. Von daher kann ich nur sagen, dass ich das "CVM-CM20" für alle empfehlen kann, die ein verlässliches, sehr gut klingendes, gut verarbeitetes und dazu noch günstiges Mikrofon suchen.

After a few months of very sparse use, the “on/off” button cracked and fell out, making it very difficult to switch on and off. Then it also stopped charging, so I’m left with about 40% battery and no way to charge it. Will see how I can return it.

After a couple of researches, I think finally I found a good mic for my youtube videos. I already tried Rode mic for my youtube videos its good but I could see Comica VM20 provides much more clear cut and crisp audio with no noise pickup for indoor. This is easy to use, plug it straight into the camera for ready go situation. The bass frequency is better for its price but not best like Rode. Has an option to setup Audio level and display of battery life which are the best thing of Comica VM20.Has good battery life as well :). I have used this for outdoor but I could see it pick up noises when it's too windy or in crowded places because the windshield is thinner. Other than that this mic is best and more for its price range. Recommend highly for studio shooting and indoor shoots and if you are a vlogger and want to do outdoor shoots can try this worth the money and budget-friendly.
