I've tried the plug, didn't remove the air ?** A: You want the air bubble because liquids expand under heat. The air will compress as the liquid expands. The hotter the gauge the smaller the air bubble. If there was no air bubble as soon as the gauge got warm from engine heat it would spit fluid out. **Q: I assume this gauge is suited for use measuring water pressure?** A: It is for low pressure gasoline 0 to 15 PSI. I am not sure what use it would have for water pressure which is generally 30 to 60 PSI. I am sure it is not sanitized for drinking water either. I would look for a gauge designed for water. I just bought on for my RV. It is a 0 to 100 PSI, it oil filled, and rated for potable water.
