- Sculpted at our Studios in Bath from Sculptures and Photographs of the time. For this bust, models around the base include; the evolution of man, giant tortoise, iguanas, magnifying glass, notebooks and the HMS Beagle. The etch around the base reads - "ON THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES" Height 11.50 cm.
The Origin of Species (1859) was a publishing phenomenon. Darwin (1809 - 1882) outlined his evolutionary theory, 'Natural Selection', which challenged the Church and establishment on the origins of life.
