Kai's list of eight bring the book to life and the real purpose of the book, besides the spine tingling romance, Sloan and Xavier's passion for one another and their lives. NYC was on full display and real love story to it as well. You could feel pulse of the city throughout. Loved the King of Sins theme throughout! A fabulous book you won't want to end! Review: ⭐️ 4 - King of Sloth was an entertaining and steamy read. While, this can be read as a standalone it is the fourth book in the Kings of Sin series. So, I would recommend just reading the prior books first for a better reading experience. It’s dual POVs of the main characters. Heroine: Sloane, a high-powered publicist Hero: Xavier, a billionaire heir Tropes: reverse grumpy-sunshine, forced proximity, hate to lovers, and a billionaire romance Overall, the premise was enjoyable. This book definitely had more plot development and centered more on Xavier’s business instead of the romance, which I didn’t mind. But I was a bit bored at times as it was quite slow-paced to be honest. There was still some amusing, steamy, heartfelt and sweet moments though. I absolutely loved all the cameos of previous characters as well. Sloane’s story and character growth was amazing. I loved how fierce, confident, and independent she was. Xavier’s devotion and commitment towards her was probably one of my favorite aspects. I just loved how hard he fell for her and didn’t give up even when she pushed back. The romance was sweet. It was definitely not as spicy as I was expecting though. They did have amazing chemistry, tension and banter though. The last few chapters were quite rushed and I wished certain storylines were a bit more fleshed out but the ending and epilogue were really sweet. Overall, still an enjoyable read with great characters.

Not my favorite
This one was clearly not quite ready to come out of the oven - beyond the many formatting issues, there were some pretty big continuity errors. Our couple went without protection for every scene except the big, heartfelt one at the end, and there was zero explanation why they went backwards - pretty sure that was just an editing error. Beyond that, I think this could’ve been a much stronger book with a few tweaks here and there (and a shorter page count). I liked it to an extent, but the relationship was often overshadowed by the extreme amount of business talk and family drama. I wanted more swoony moments and scenes that softened the edges of these characters, because they just weren’t easy to relate to without that. Our heroine is known as an ice queen and the hero is known for being hedonistic and lazy, so they needed that swoon factor. I will say that I liked the hero a lot more than I expected to at the beginning; he truly was gone for his girl, and I loved that he didn’t want to change her. I saw a lot of potential in their opposites attract dynamic, so I’m left feeling disappointed by the end result. The story follows Sloane, a woman who runs a PR firm. She’s known for being cold and aloof, which is part of what makes her business so successful. There is one client who drives her a little crazy, and that’s party boy Xavier. He doesn’t seem to have any ambition in life other than having a good time, but the death of his father changes that. With some complicated stipulations in Xavier’s father’s will, it’s the push he needs to finally get moving. Seeing a different side of Xavier draws Sloane in closer, and it’s not long before the chemistry builds between them. But neither one has ever considered having a lasting love before, and they might just be out of their element. I’m what you’d call a casual Ana Huang reader - I like her writing, but I wait to see what the tropes are before deciding to dive in. In this case, I was very intrigued by the blurb, and had such a good feeling about the story. I did not realize that Xavier and Sloane had been working together for years, which was pretty disappointing, honestly. I did understand Huang’s explanation that they had the kind of attraction that was easy to put on the backburner, but that certainly didn’t help the swoon factor, lol. They were good for each other though, and I would’ve loved more of the story to focus on the two of them rather than all of the side characters and distractions. It’s the kind of story that was JUST good enough to hold my interest, and could’ve really won me over if something great happened. Unfortunately, that simply wasn’t the case, and I found myself bored enough to notice all of the editing flaws. Audio note: Zero complaints about the audiobook, I loved the duet narration. Gregory Salinas and Elena Wolfe are both newer-to-me narrators, and they gave great performances. The duet style made it feel more immersive too. The runtime (13 hours) reflects the long length of the book, and it took me a few days to get through. Once I lost interest in the story, I switched to the kindle edition to speed things up, and that’s where all of the weird editing issues became obvious (paragraphs running together, weird line breaks, no distinguishing marks between perspective shifts, etc). They’re much easier to ignore in the audio format, so that’s another plus for the audiobook. There’s a decent amount of spice, so not sure I’d recommend this as a workday listen, but it’s easygoing and light overall.

Beautiful and Addictive
“King of Sloth” completely stole my heart — I honestly didn’t want it to end! Ana Huang delivers another unforgettable story that is equal parts emotional, steamy, and deeply personal. Sloane and Xavier’s relationship felt so raw and real; their chemistry was absolutely magnetic from the very first page. I loved how Huang built their connection slowly, allowing their vulnerabilities and scars to surface in a way that made them even more relatable. Xavier is one of the dreamiest heroes I’ve ever read — protective, broody, and so deeply loyal once he lets you in. And Sloane? She’s strong, ambitious, and beautifully complex. Watching them both learn to trust, to heal, and to fight for each other made for such an emotional rollercoaster. The writing was beautiful and addictive, filled with all the tension, banter, and slow-burn moments I crave. It wasn’t just about romance either — there were powerful themes of self-worth, family expectations, and finding your own path. I laughed, I cried, and I fell completely in love. If you love swoony, emotional slow burns with strong characters and deep character growth, King of Sloth will absolutely wreck you (in the best way possible). It’s one of my favorite reads of the year, and I already can’t wait for a reread! Rating: 5/5 stars. Highly recommend to anyone who loves slow-burn romance with heart!

After seeing so many scenes between Sloane and Xavier in the previous books, I was excited to read their story since their personalities were so different from one another. I just completed it yesterday, and this might be my favourite book in this series so far. I’m also quite surprised I haven’t seen many people talking about how good this book is(it deserves more hype, in my opinion). I love the character development and Xavier’s nickname for Sloane. The meaning behind the nickname has me melting. The relationship between Sloane and her sister is the most adorable thing, but the highlight in this book for me was when the Twisted series characters-Jules, Christian, Rhys and Bridget and the latest addition to their family were mentioned. I also love the way Xavier and Sloane’s relationship developed and how they knew each other so well. From publicist and client to being one another’s world, they really showed us how the romcoms got it right in the end(iykyk😉). I had so much fun reading this book and can’t wait for Vuk and Ayana’s story next!

4 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ TROPES: forced proximity 💙 he falls first ⏱️ grumpy x sunshine 💙 billionaire romance ⏱️ interracial romance 💙 "our live's weren't perfect, but here, together, we were at peace." well this wasn't my favorite king of sin book in the series by far the book was still exceptionally good. but i will say sloane has to be one of my favorite girl's so far throughout this series. i find i can somewhat relate to her. from her fiesty attiudude to her caring persona she was much different from the others. at time's in this book i really wish i had her confidence! 👏🏻 and dont forget about xavier the hottie colombian dude. 🥵 i found around the first 40% of the book wasn't my favourite. slow yet not very intriguing. it hadn't really caught my attention very much but then the further on i went the more interesting it had became! you could really see the character developement for xavier, how when he and sloane started dating and also finding out about the will changes from his father. he smarted up his act no longer acting 20 when he was almost 30. (by goofing off and making headlines everywhere he goes getting into trouble) not all books have to end with getting married, having baby's or even proposing. at that's what i liked about this extended epoilgue. they didn't get married, or have any baby's (yet) and no proposing happened. because maybe that wasn't in the card's for them but i find it's always nice not to end a story every single time with those achievements! but i did find it so cute that she got him a chocolate lab like he had when he was a kid. that made my heart so happy! 💗 ・゚° pre-review 💙 —> hoping this meets up to my expectations because i’m so freaking excited! 01/05/24

ik vond dit echt een topboek! zeker omdat nu de rollen eens omgedraaid waren en het een grumpy vrouw was en een happy man. de verhaallijn was ook mooi uitgeschreven.
