How many sheets can be held by the prong fasteners?

I never counted, but I’m doubtful it holds 100 as stated in the Description

are the pockets open or closed? Using them for classroom, want to make sure papers don't fall out.

The pockets are closed at the bottom and one side. If held upright, papers would not fall out.
