Overall a Very nice product! 1 or 2 issues...
I had a Netgear D3600 rrp around £160 and my connection was dropping left, right and center... by this point I had had enough and I started looking at D-Link as a close friend recommended them. Pros: The router looks very nice and minimal, with the two lights on the front for at a glance information. I'ts currently sitting in the garage and its just running... doing its job and doing it well. I have around 20 - 25 devices connected to the router at one time and it doesn't have any issues running them. I also have a Seagate 1TB USB drive plugged into the USB Port and I can get read and right speeds on Ethernet of around 12/mbps. The wireless speeds are very nice. With my MacBook connected over AC streaming movies is seamless and not to mention the 2.4ghz isn't slacking either. Possibly one of the best I have tested for wireless. Range for me was Average for a router of this class. Over average for most other routers in a lower price range. It can push content to my smart TVs using DLNA from the connected Hard drive and it works a treat. The router also works fine with Apple TV's and Sonos systems. Cons: The worst part for me was the first day. Got the router set up and getting internet very easily. But in the first day the connection dropped much like the last router around once every two hours. This cleared up after the first day and the connection has now been live for days. The web UI could do with an upgrade but its not bad. The first time I tried to AirPlay Mirror my MacBook Pro to my Apple TV it froze the network... but after a restart now it works fine. Same with the Sonos. First time I tried to set up the Sonos it froze the router, but after restarting it works fine and has been for days... its been flawless. I would put these down just to teething problems as everything is spot on now hence the 5 stars. My connection gets 10ping, 20mbps down and 11mbps up quite consistantly. I have a WISP. If you have any questions please feel free to message me! ~Alex

A decent upgrade and works with Talktalk Plus TV and fibre.
Bought this to replace my Talktalk supplied router during an upgrade to "fibre" broadband (actually FTTC/VDSL). Set up was pretty straightforward though the setup wizard did originally get things wrong - it asked me for an ISP supplied username and password when this should not be necessary for a connection. Re-running the setup sorted it all out fine. Speeds are very fast and it supplies a signal to more areas of the house than our old router. It doesn't however reach everywhere (I live in a large-ish 4 bed detached house with pretty thick internal walls) when I'd rather hoped it would have so that I could do away with my wi-fi repeater. However, not to worry. Switching on IPv4 multi cast (in advanced settings) meant that all my Talktalk extra tv channels (eg Sky) & catch up services now work fine. Two small things about the router itself to be aware of 1. its surprisingly big (22cm high) and 2. the mains lead is very short - maybe only a metre long - so this might limit where you can position it. I bought mine as an Amazon Warehouse deal so it was great value. Happy so far.

Poor signal
Easy to install but the signal is bit weak I am just a room away and the signal is already poor.

Bought to fix bufferbloat issue on Virgin Media (and also get Wireless AC connection)
I bought this as a last resort to fix a problem I have had and noticed since moving to Virgin Media broadband. There is a network issue called "Bufferbloating", which like when trying to watch a video on YouTube or Netflix on cheap/unreliable internet, causes a buffer of traffic to be created in the router, meaning that the router introduces lag that would otherwise not be there. This is mainly due to the fact that connections to the router from your device are faster than the connection between the ISP and your router. For those who still don't understand what bufferbloat means after my explanation above, just know that it's very frustrating seeing someone hit the ball in Rocket League when they are about a car's distance from it, or even seeing yourself hit the ball away, only for it to elasticate back to the point of hitting it and continue as if you "phased right through" it. Another example is hiding around the corner in a CS:GO map, only to see the tip of someone's gun, you fire, but you're already dead, their head finally coming out from around the corner as you die, yet on the replay, you see them casually walk around a corner, see you, spend a good few seconds adjusting their aim for your head, and then firing a good 10 rounds before (what was on your screen anyway at that point) the gun starts arriving around the corner making you jump into action, but for a lost cause. A way to fix this is by using something called "QoS" or Quality of Service, which manages the bandwidth between devices within the network thus minimising the buffer effect within the router. This feature also allows for certain internet traffic to be prioritised over others - for example, online gaming requires low latency, but not that much bandwidth, meaning that you can set it as a high priority. YouTube and Netflix, however, do not require low latency, therefore they can be set at a lower priority than gaming etc. Although I didn't delve into the router settings a whole bunch, I ended up installing DD-WRT on it given the QoS with the router itself seemed to only allow priorities based on a fixed device basis - meaning that you can select fixed priorities for devices on the network, regardless of who is watching YouTube/Netflix and who is gaming. This router is very very good for DD-WRT as others have said, down to the point where it is fully compatible. DD-WRT is a lot more complicated than the default firmware; however, it is much more worth it in the long run since it has a lot more functionality, with easy monitoring of internet usage across all devices, you can also kick people off the internet on specific devices whenever you want them to.

Forget it
Purchased from Amazon, not a 3rd party seller. Quality: Overall quality of the physical product seems pretty good. It looks and feels fairly sturdy so shouldn't be a problem to tuck somewhere out of the way and forget about. I did find however that the unit kept constantly dropping out even when connected via ethernet. Interface: The interface of this unit is appalling. For this amount of money I would expect a much better interface that is actually usable. I found that the interface on this was very difficult to use. So you need it for anything other than plug and play I would recommend using a different product. Range: In my testing I didn't find that the WiFi range was particularly good. Putting it in the middle of the house (4up, 5 down farm cottage) it still didn't cover the whole house and the connection was very poor.

Most unstable router I've ever had
When it works, it's great - and the app to manage it isn't bad either - but it's just so unreliable. With the firmware out of the box, it was locking up every few hours - and forget about the software reboot and the reboot button as if it doesn't sit powered off for a few minutes, it won't come back up properly and you're back to square one. With the firmware upgrade, stability settled down after a few days as others have noted, but add another device onto the wifi and it falls over again - every damn time - even devices that have been on the network previously but not in a while. It looks good, has some nice features and dual-band, but if it's going to just lock up that frequently then it's of no real use. Maybe I was unlucky and got a flakey one, but judging by their support forum and amazon.com reviews, so were a lot of other people.

Very quick
I had a TP-Link router which has worked fine for quite a few years and was more then adequate when I got it. The device has been reliable and rarely needed any attention. The main issues I was finding was that streaming video took a while to buffer before starting and it just didn't seem to be fast. As we now have a couple of devices that could use ac and 5ghz it was time for a change. The main point for getting this model was the looks. Most of the specs are similar to other models but the cylindrical design makes it easier to position and you don't have any antennas on view. Setup was easy, unplug the leads on the old one and the unplug the power supply and then plug them into this device, plug it into the mains and switch on (it is nice to have an on/off switch). On the PC open the browser and point it to the address in the instructions. You are then guided through the set-up process and at the end you have two SSIDs, one for 2.4ghz and another for 5.0ghz. I names the lower frequency the same as the old router and gave the 5.0 SSID something different. So how does it perform? Over the wired network to devices like the Apple TV, Smart TV, Blu-Ray player and so on it was noticeably faster than the old one. Buffering was there for about a second compared to maybe 20 and the video started. On the old router my iPhone and iPads the download would generally be about 30gbs (next to the router) and that would trail off with distance and about 10-15m the signal would disappear. On the AC1750 I was getting 100mbs download when next to the router and at the far side of the house where the old signal was non-existent I was getting 60mbs download. The iPad 3 was about 50 next to the router and the same on the other side of the house. On the PC Speedtest had been giving 120mbs download but with this new router I was getting 155mbs.No need for repeaters now. You are able to attach a USB 3 drive to it and it could be used as an iTunes server and file server too. I've not played with that but that could be useful if you are getting these sort of speeds. Downsides? Only one but it applies all routers that I can see and that is they all see to have a light on them somewhere. It would be nice to be able to run them dark by having a switch that turns off the lights. The front has just two lights that aren't that bright but in a dark room you do notice them. The solution was some black adhesive plastic. The ports at the rear don't have lights so you don't get the constant flashing from them which is good. So after a short period of use I'm very pleased with the ease of use and also the speeds compared to my old router.

A good-looking, good quality router - but be sure to create an admin password.
This router is well reviewed in the technical press regarding speeds and technical capability, so there are no concerns on that score. My personal experience matches this - good speed and long ranges. But these facts leave you with a decent range of routers to choose from. So why this one? I chose this because it is a good price compared to most dual-band AC1750 routers (the fastest current standard) and the Amazon picture made it look like it would not be an eyesore in the corner of my living room. And it really isn't an eyesore. About the height of a Pringles can but slightly fatter, this is not going to look out of place on public display and is not going to draw the eye. It is by miles the neatest, tidiest looking router I have ever owned. If your router is likewise out in the open, I think you'll be very pleased with this model. I will say the web interface could be better and clearer but the basics of connecting are easy to set up. However, though one could wish it would be better, it's probably no worse than any other brand of router I've used. The one black mark, for which I have deducted a star, is that the router as supplied is not passworded. This is a very major security weakness for home users who rarely appreciate the importance of password protecting their router and is something increasingly being targetted by the bad guys. Again, D-Link are far from the only company to be this irresponsible about router security. If you buy this router, please add a strong admin password. Do this after initial setup however, or it messes with the setup wizard.

Disappointing as the device is not configured as per labelled.
I still haven't got it working as the default password on the sticker is not correct. I have hard reset and still the default password is not correct. So I can get in to the device.
