Are the wireless headphones waterproof? If not, why pair headphones that can't take a splash or 2 with a submersible detector? Should be an option.

They are not waterproof, though they do make headphones that are.

Is this nokta legend the updated 2023 model with the lg 30 coil and upper and lower carbon fiber shaft, etc.?

Hello, Yes, this is the new edition machine. All the Best Lisa

The description says coils and "covers". Are the 'covers' also called skid plates?

The coil covers act as a skid plate. For Nokia they are required as the bottom of the coil would be exposed without the cover/skid plate.
