this has to be one of the best if not the best vacuum on the market currently
rated as the best vacuum in many categories from rtings.com, most notably pet hair, i bought it on their recommendation alone because i love the guys. and its a beast. i actually kind of ENJOY vacuuming with this thing, just because ive never had a cordless experience before this vacuum, either. i tested against my robot vacuum, which ofc doesnt get everything a proper vacuum will get, but also against my previous corded vacuum, and still, it grabs plenty. anti-tangle head, the head with the light on it is a game changer for non carpet (hardwood, tile, etc) surfaces. the design is minimal, well thought out, and its easy to swap stuff around. finally, a vacuum where you actually care about the different attachments and use them. its just so easy and powerful. BUT, nothings perfect. none of this stops me from giving it 5 stars, the vacuum is that good, but one thing ALMOST did get me to do it, and well start with that first: and that, is that this vacuum DOES try to speed up and slow down depending on what is happening. if it detects more dust, or detects that the airflow has slowed down (because you just went on to thicker carpet, or if something is blocking the pipe, etc), it will of course speed up to continue vacuuming well. the issue though? on some carpet, even if nothing of particular note is going on, it will actually keep speeding up to the point where it will completely stop. as in, the roller will stop spinning, and its quite annoying, particularly because the specific carpet in my case, that im talking about, doesnt even seem that thick or anything. it just randomly bogs itself down until it stops. seems like a pretty bad issue. but thankfully, in my case, after changing the software settings on its sensitivity to the lowest, and ALSO moving the "switch" on the carpet head to the one that allows the most airflow, it doesnt happen anymore. so im basically a happy camper. BUT, i could definitely see these changes not actually helping if your carpet is thick or "weird" enough. whats not in the options, is the ability to turn off the adapting system. that would be very helpful for people with this kind of carpet. its also not that light. i was hoping it would be lighter, and of course the battery is going to be heavy and theres not much you can do that other than completely innovating a new type of battery (which people are working on), i still thought it would be lighter even without the battery. but its not a big deal. the only thing its missing is automatic drive (so it will push itself, mostly for older folks). and again, i understand thats a mostly unreasonable ask because were talking about a battery operated device here. it just sucks because, if it had that, theres pretty much nothing it doesnt do, and very well. i have a golden retriever, and for anyone in the know about these doggos, their hair shedding is among the worst, at least for its type. i honestly didnt believe the anti-tangle brush would work - but it does! it has not tangled a single time yet, and ive put it through its paces in spite of only having it a few months so far. still likely the best vacuum in existence right now. if you need the best, and dont have extra thick carpet, dont even look further - especially if you have a dog.

Best cordless vacuum I’ve ever used!
Been using this vacuum daily for 2 years and I love it! It’s so convenient, not too heavy and picks up all the dog and cat hair. The tangle free comb is truly a tangle free comb! I haven’t had any of my hair tangled around it which is always a problem for vacuums for me because I haven’t really really long hair. I would absolutely recommend this vacuum to anyone and everyone! I don’t have any comments on battery as it lives on it’s charger and is used daily but I have never had it die on me.

How did I live without you?!
I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. I swear they get naked each night and re-grow all of their fur just before I crawl out of bed. I can’t begin to explain the fur that rolls through my house like tumble weeds. I was on a high dose of Prozac when I accumulated these animals. Now that I’m not, I can’t understand what possessed me to think this many animals was a good idea (it was the Prozac) but I love them a LOT so here I am. Life was looking bleak until I decided to spend an idiotic amount of money on this vacuum hoping and praying my life would somehow change if I had the right tool to help me. Well, guess what?! My life has changed!! I vacuum every single day and I don’t mind doing it! This vacuum with its glowing green light shows me all the fur and dirt. I vacuum it up and it’s gone! I can see my floors getting clean, and it’s such a rewarding feeling - accomplishment and JOY! The vacuum zips along, light, no cord to trip over, and it’s not a big deal. It doesn’t even feel like a chore. No more fur bunnies! No more grit! It sucks up the cat litter and doesn’t spray it all over the house! It vacuums up leaves from the ficus tree! I can vacuum the whole house on a charge - about 1500 square feet - on eco mode. I show it off to everyone who enters my home. If it came in different colors I might get a second one and start a collection. If I’m waiting for my toast to pop, I grab the vacuum and zip around the kitchen. I can vacuum and talk on the phone because vacuuming is easy and quiet! Yeah, I love this life changing wonder of a machine! Other people might not be as enthralled with it as I am. I can only say - I love it. If vacuuming is a big part of your life, gift yourself with the right tool if you can. You’re worth it!

4 dogs in the house.
I’m so embarrassed by this Dyson. I had a V11 & it died after 2 years. I know it did a great job but when you have 4 dogs in the house there’s a lot of dog hair. The attachment with the light that shows all the dog hair & dust is amazing. I would think I had vacuumed, swiffered, or mopped up everything. Boy was I wrong. This new Dyson is amazing in sucking up all the dirt, dust, & dog hair. I highly recommend it after only having it for 2 weeks.

Had to have multiple replacements sent or ordered within 6 months of purchase.
I do not recommend buying this vaccume from Amazon. First when I ordered it they did not send me the Lazer head attatchment. Amazon could not help me so I had to reach out to Dyson specifically. They sent a replacement after trying to give me the run around back to amazon. The vaccume worked fine until recently when the battery died. I only had it for about 6 months at this point. Thought it was the charger so I bought a new one and it still didnt work so I had to order a replacement battery for 150 dollars from Dyson. Finally get it working again and then the seal in the dust bin broke within like 3 days of getting the new battery so i now had to order that replacemnet! Ive about had it with this vaccume. Its ridiculous that it was 650 dollars and im running into these many issues in less than a year of purchase. When the vaccume is working and not breaking I do enjoy it but overall i do not recommend.

FOR A ONE-STORY HOUSE WITH DOGS, THIS VACUUM IS A DELIGHT!
The striped vacuum head that comes with this vacuum is the most wonderful invention ever. I have very dark wood floors everywhere but the bathrooms that have tile. My cleaning lady uses an expensive Miele canister vacuum every week. In between, I use a cordless. This is my third cordless. I had a Dyson and then a Miele. They were both very expensive, and neither lasted as long as I thought they should considering the prices. But it never occurred to me that they might not be picking up all the dog hair, until now. The striped vacuum head shines a green light on the floor while vacuuming and I realized very quickly that I was apparently not picking up all the dog hair with my previous cordless vacuums or this one. How do I know that? Because when I first got this cordless I didn't use the striped vacuum head, but the other one provided. I vacuumed one room and then decided to use the striped vacuum head to see how it had picked up. I was stunned to see there were still thousands of white dog hair all over the wood floor I had just finished vacuuming! Initially I was upset, but then I realized that I might have been going too fast, so I turned on the vacuum (and that super green light came on), and I vacuumed slowly - up and down - the rooms, actually seeing all the dog hair being sucked up by my new Dyson. Since I can now see the hair, I can get every single one into the vacuum. I can't explain how satisfying it is; so satisfying that I now use my new cordless every day and enjoy every second. I guess I don't need to tell you that one of my dogs is a shedder? And a year-round one. I'm not about to get rid of him, but now I know when I finish vacuuming that I've gotten all the hair he shed the day before. And the vacuum is light enough and easy enough to use every day. The house isn't large - about 1700 square feet. Even going slowly to be sure I'm getting all the hair, I can do the entire house on one charge, and I don't get tired because the vacuum weighs very little. I don't have stairs, but for a one story house with dogs, this vacuum is an absolute delight.

Wow! Where have you been all my life?
A friend of mine received the V11 for Christmas and let me try it out, and I had to have one of my own. After doing some comparisons and reading the reviews, I ended up buying the V15 Detect... although I almost decided to get the Gen5Outsize, or the Gen5Detect. What made me decide on this one was the trigger power button. The newer models have a power button. One of the things I recognized when trying out the V11 was how the trigger power button would save on battery power as it turns on and off the machine easily without needing to use both hands. I've seen reviews where people would prefer an "on all the time" button as is now the case with the Gen5's, so I guess it's a matter of preference. But being able to control everything with one hand was my preference... as well as a mind toward conserving battery power while cleaning by not having to turn it on and off when I moved from area to area in my home. The vacuum just stops running when you release the trigger. When I received the V15 Detect this morning, I felt like it was Christmas all over again! Luckily, it was half way charged right out of the box, and easy to assemble. You hardly need directions to figure it out. Things just snap together in a pretty common sense fashion. I have hardwood floors with medium pile large room rugs in every room. The stairs going down to my basement are high pile (think 1970's shag carpet!) and I was most concerned about whether the vacuum would be able to handle those. But it did without skipping a beat! I was able to vacuum my dining room, kitchen, stairs leading to our downstairs den, and the den and hallway itself before the vacuum was telling me it was almost out of power. If you have the vacuum set to "auto" then the time left on the battery will fluctuate based on the floor type and amount of power it is having to use to suck up the dirt. So, it could get a little confusing going from "5 minutes" left to "15 minutes" left based on floor type. But once you figure out what's going on, that fluctuation is pretty easy to get used to and plan your cleaning accordingly. The suction of the V15 is comparable to any other vacuum (corded) that I've owned. And, the edge cleaning is a necessary plus. I am upgrading from a corded Shark that I was not too pleased with how well it would suck up dirt against the wall and and edges of furniture. The Dyson V15 did a phenomenal job at this. The two downsides that I found through my first use of the V15 was the knuckle area of my thumb did begin to feel a little sore from pushing the vacuum as on medium pile large rugs it would increase its suction power and become slightly more difficult to push. But, the roller never stopped spinning. I had read and watched multiple reviews that complained that the suction power of the Gen5's were so strong that the rollers would stop spinning on medium pile carpets. I did not experience one instance of this, even on the shag carpeted stairs with the V15. The second downside was that the V15 roller did stop when I attempted to vacuum on my bathroom throw rugs. This didn't bother me much as they can be shaken out. But, corded vacuums I've had would at least allow me to awkwardly vacuum these types rugs... although not easily. I had also chosen the V15 over the Gen5Outsize because of the size of the motorhead. I wanted a smaller one that could fit into smaller spaces rather than a larger one that comes on the Gen5Outsize. The smaller sized head and the design of the stick vacuum, the way the motorhead turns so easily, makes the V15 very easy to maneuver. It would be nice if the V15 would allow you to have a button that would turn off the roller and just have suction on the motorhead. While the V15 comes with a bare floor cleaning attachment; it is kind of a hassle to have to stop vacuuming to go get it and detach the carpet motorhead and then attach the bare floor one. Although, the light that allows you to see dust more easily is a plus that allows for a deeper clean of your bare floors. I really like the ease of emptying the bin. All you have to do is detach the stick and then pull the red lever and it opens the dust bin and scrapes down the vacuumed refuse into the trash. Pure genius! We also have several cats. And after I was finished vacuuming I looked at the roller on the motorhead and it was clean of any hair. This certainly has not been the case with my previous Shark, or other vacuums where I would have to get out a pair of scissors and detangle rolled up hair from the roller was such a pain. The V15 just sucked up the hair and it didn't get tangled up in the roller. That, in itself, makes me love this machine! As I had read complaints about the wall attachment for charging, and having to put holes in your wall for it, I decided to purchase a vacuum stand -- which is pretty sturdy and was only around $40.00. All my attachments fit on it and it allows my V15 to stand upright while charging. I have also purchased another battery to extend my cleaning time and will get a charger for it as it plugs into the battery itself rather than the vacuum to charge. I know this is a long review, but I just couldn't be more thrilled by something I've spent money on... if you vacuum, you need this machine. You NEED it. Not having to hunt for a plug-in from room to room, trip over a power cord, stop cleaning to untangle a power cord from a chair leg or other object, mess with running over the power cord, deal with your power cord not being long enough to seamlessly go from room to room, go through the whole process of unwrapping and rewrapping a power cord, is a blessing. Who wants to have to go through all of that when cleaning house can be time consuming and tiresome enough as it is? A cordless vacuum is one of the best inventions of the modern era in my opinion! And the Dyson V15 is comparable to any vacuum I've owned... including previous Dyson's and Shark's. Get this vacuum. You won't regret it. It will revolutionize the way you clean. I dreaded vacuuming before I learned about these cordless vacuum's. Now, I almost look forward to it because it's so easy. One final plus... Over Christmas I tripped our breaker twice using my Shark vacuum. While I had an electrician correct the fundamental issue, (my office was on the same 15 amp breaker that was blowing when I would plug in the vacuum), when he was rewiring my breaker box to prevent future instances of tripping it, he showed me that my vacuum, when in use, drew up to 9.5 amps. The computer and other electrical equipment in my office was already pulling about 5.5 amps. So, I won't have to be concerned about tripping a breaker with a cordless vacuum. I have owned two corded Dyson's in the past. Both were pretty durable. I am hoping the V15 Detect proves itself to be just as durable. Fingers are crossed. I will add that the V15 Detect was rated the best vacuum of 2023 and winter 2024, along with the V11. Making the decision to spend as much as a Dyson costs can be difficult. But, you do have to pay for quality... and Dyson IS quality. There just isn't another vacuum out there -- no matter what you may read and other companies may say -- that equals the quality of a Dyson. That is not to say there are not other quality vacuums out there. I didn't dislike my Shark... but even though it was corded, it doesn't come close to the V15 in edge cleaning or suction. I would recommend the V15 Detect wholeheartedly. It will save you a couple hundred bucks over their newer model, and is as good, and even better, than any corded vacuum I've ever used.

The green light is addicting! Awesome vaccum.
I purchased this mainly for my wood floors which take up about 2/3 of my first floor. I live by myself in a relatively large home and I always thought that my floors were perfectly clean using my floor attachment on my old upright Dyson. That works well but lugging the heavy old vacuum around the house and banging in the tables and having it fall over, with cords getting stuck became a real pain. So once I put on the soft attachment and turned on that green light for the first time, I was blown away by how much dust was on my floor. Full layer basically every single day, and I have an upgraded HEPA (once a year) filter system on my furnace as well. Still dusty floors, tables, chairs, etc., every single day! Now I'm addicted to the GREEN LIGHT and I'm VACUUMING wood floors and tile every 2 days. Works great to pick up all the dust. As for the carpeting attachment, it can't keep up with the old uprights, but I didn't expect it to. It's still good for something if you need a quick carpeting clean up or some quick lines in the carpet. It just doesn't dig into the carpeting deeply like the old heavy uprights that I have. I have dense carpeting so I don't have any issues with it getting too difficult to push or pull. As long as this thing doesn't break in the near future, I'm giving it 5 stars. It was worth the money. So if you can afford it, and you've got wood, laminate or vinyl flooring, pets and kids (or none at all), trust me, you don't know how dusty it is!
