I purchased the GODESON Digital Tire Tread Depth Gauge to keep a closer eye on tire wear, and it has been a very useful tool to have. The digital display makes it extremely easy to read the measurement without having to guess or interpret small markings like with traditional manual gauges. It measures up to 1 inch (25.4 mm), which is more than enough range for checking typical tire tread depth. The color-coded bar is also a helpful feature because it gives a quick visual reference showing whether the tread depth is still in a safe range or getting close to needing replacement. This makes it especially convenient for quick checks on multiple vehicles. The gauge feels lightweight but solid enough for regular use, and the measuring probe slides smoothly when checking tire grooves. I’ve used it on car tires and it works quickly and consistently. I measure and record my tread depth at every oil change, which allows me to predict pretty accurately when my tires will need replacement. This digital tread depth gauge is very similar to Harbor Freight's 6" digital caliper and works very well for its intended purpose. It's about half as long as the HFT calipers and therefore fits in my fender well much more easily, so I can measure more of the tire's circumference. Given the price and accuracy, I'm very pleased with it.

The Amazon heading includes "Easy Read Tire Depth Gauge for Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles", but the box says 'Trucks, Motorcycles" (i.e., excluding 'Cars'). I believe it. The device is too large to fit in the wheel well, so you have to kneel on the ground to obtain sufficient room to use the item. Also a change of 4 mm on the paper scale display as a change of ~3.2 mm on the digital scale. Would not recommend.

In addition to the electronic readout, it has a mechanical readout. Great product at good price.
