Zelladorra Japanese Floor Mattress, Futon Mattress

Two of these stacked on top of each other is perfection. I ordered one of these Japanese style floor mattress in a twin size and the cover had been forgotten, but the seller helped that issue and we were happy. I liked how it felt sleeping on this mat, it helped my back pain from improper sleep, and the seller was trustworthy so I ordered one more from them. Can stack together or put side by side for multiple sleepers. I stacked two of these mats together and it's just right. A little extra cushion for the hips as a side sleeper. One by itself is fine as well, and I would recommend trying it. I paid around $70 for these each and they are worth the cost. Versatile uses, folds away easily, and very comfortable. Just the right amount of firmness and density.

I got this mainly as a back up floor mattress to use in case of an extra sleeping space that could easily roll up. The what I would call faux “canvas” bag that holds it is high quality and extremely durable. It comes with two straps to wrap around it to make it a tighter roll. It also has a drawstring cord to cinch it tight at the top of the storage bag so that looks really nice. The mattress is so comfortable and thick better on carpeted floor if able but I tried on tile and that was even pretty good. There’s a zip up, machine washable beautiful cover in the identical pattern as the inside mattress pattern. It is easy to zip and unzip. Washes up great. I got a twin set of cotton sheets for this mattress as well. As you can see my very elderly (20 years old) kitty Sammy is sleeping on top of the mattress-it’s his favorite place. Which is a compliment because there’s a ton of cozy spots in our house for him to nap. He loves his mattress! So I put it on the end of the bed instead of storing it. It looks like a decorative bed item in the twin size. Plus in the winter here it feels nice almost like a weighted blanket on my feet/legs if it’s cold. This thing is high quality, thick, and soft material-not scratchy -comfortable. It is also really nice looking and looks more expensive than it is. I also have watched tv on it lying down with it on the floor. My two cats enjoy laying on it with me as well while on the floor. (Not just when it’s on top of the end of the bed.) Came very tightly shrink wrapped. This mattress is fairly heavy and durable for its size, but not so heavy that it’s cumbersome. Highly recommend and great for sleeping too. I fell asleep while watching a show and it felt so relaxing. Good peace of mind for having extra sleep space too. SO MUCH BETTER THAN AIR MATRESS! I hate air mattresses they’re so awful! Plus a pull out couch is the worse with those bars sticking in your back. This is convenience personified and so easy to store away in its bag if you prefer. There is no detectable bad smell/odor. Not even a hint of chemical smell. To me it is a neutral basic “clean” scent. I washed the cover immediately as I always wash brand new stuff of course. Highly recommended!

My kids absolutely love this floor mat! It’s great for sleepovers, camping, or when they want to lie down and watch a movie in my room. It’s super cozy, comfortable, and a really nice size. My 8-year-old is pictured on it, and there is still plenty of extra room, so it could easily fit an older child or even an adult if needed. It’s also easy to fold up and store away when it’s not being used. It has already gotten plenty of use in our house!

I’m really happy with this floor mattress. The thickness is good for for carpeted flooring,it feels comfortable and supportive without sinking in. The color is nice and it is easy to store with the cover. I use it as an additional bed when I have visitors, and it’s worked out wonderfully. Overall, a really good purchase and definitely worth it if you need an easy, comfortable extra sleeping option.

I liked this floor mattress so much. I went back and bought a second one for my daughter. They come with a bag and they can fold and be stored in them. It is made out of a nice material, it’s substantial, but not too big. It is very comfortable. It can be used as a topper on a bed or just on the floor on its own. I love that. It has a zip off cover that you can wash. I have used this as a mattress pad on top of a twin bed, I have used it in the car for car camping, and in a tent for tent camping. I can’t recommend it enough. I really think it’s great.

TLDR below-I frequently sleep on an air mattress and was hoping for a more comfortable, less temperamental setup that I could quickly and quietly setup and pack up. I give up my bed to company when we have people stay over. The reviews on this were good but someone a bit heavier (like me) suggested using it with a mattress topper. So I ordered it and a fairly thick mattress topper. It arrived, I unpacked it and I let it sit a while (a few hours) hoping it would expand but it’s fairly cold in my house so I decided to lightly add heat by warming up the room it was in to a nice 75 degrees. Yes, I did try it before adding heat but it was as hard as a brick. After adding a little heat it did expand to a little over 2 inches. A far cry from what I was promised but I was hopeful. I slapped the topper and sheets on it and let it sit an additional few hours before testing it out. Quite frankly, I can only lay on this for about 5 minutes before I’m in to much pain and have to get up, even after letting sit an additional day. My floors are hard wood but idt even a plush carpet could save this setup for me and honestly I think the topper is really doing most of the heavy lifting in the 5 mins I can stand. For me with both this mattress and the topper it feels like I basically put down two thick comforters and tried to sleep on that. I expected it to maybe sink after laying on it a while as it is foam but I wasn’t expecting it to be immediately uncomfortable to lay on. My partner has a much thinner and less curvy frame, think 5’7” and around 130lbs soaking wet (they’re also fairly young, mid twenties) and still struggles with this mattress. They are able to sleep on it which is more than I can do but wake feeling like they’ve been hit by a semi-truck…..Perhaps stacking two would make it comfortable for the average person but I’m pretty curvy and won’t be spending more money to test this theory. Back to the air mattress for me. I’m returning this for sure. TLDR: It didn’t really expand fully even after warming the room it was in. It was queen sized. I didn’t notice a smell. Mine didn’t have the cover with it so I don’t know if that fits. It’s not at all supportive and not comfortable. The stitching was pulling away in one small section so quality is questionable and probably wouldn’t last very long. Wouldn’t recommend especially if you’re curvy. Price was too good to be true and I certainly got what I paid for….

i wish this item was half an i ch to a full inch thicker, but that is simply personal preference. i use this item with a hand woven tatami mat on carpet in my apartment. i use this item/ set up daily for lounging and sleeping. if you are used to western beds, give your body a few days to adjust- especially your upper back, lower back and hips. your spine is decompressing, flattening and essentially adjusting to proper support. most western beds cause a “shrimp” posture, and if you use this item with a tatami mat, you will experience better posture and less back/hip, shoulder pain over time. i have a herniated disk from being hit by a car and this is my favorite set up for sleeping. it really helps my back, dont knock it until you try it! just make sure to get a tatami mat to combat any moisture issues with molding or mildew. the tatami mat will ensure proper pressure distribution, too. i picked this shikibuton in particular because it was more affordable than other similar items that didn’t include a cover. importing a traditional shikibuton isnt a cost effective option, especially in 2025. the cover is important to me for hygiene purposes, along with the general affordability so all of these reasons are why i purchased this item instead of competing options. stomp on the item, fold it, hit it and leave it by a window during daylight to speed up the process of expansion. you can also use a blow dryer on the warm setting while folding, hitting and stomping on the item. flip it over and repeat. i used mine the same day i opened it with this method. 10/10 would purchase again, i may simply get a thicket tatami mat to make up for the 0.5-1 inch.

I took two stars off for foldability/storage, since it’s not easy to fold and therefore not easy to store. It’s also not 4 inches, it’s less than 3 inches, but I still find it to be comfortable and thick enough to sleep on. We use it on top of a very thin Ruggable rug and mat that lays on top of a hardwood floor. If it stored better, it would be five stars.

If you are looking for a firm surface with a few millimeters of give then this is the mattress for you. I've slept very well on it for two nights now and it is all that I expected from a mattress at this price. Only shortcoming I've encountered is the mattress length; I'm 76-1/2" tall which is marginally too tall for the mattress. Thankfully it's a floor mattress so my pillows don't have far to go...

The Zelladoora mattress is perfect to be stored in your cupboard and rolled out for a guest to sleep on - no matter their age. Great for young children and they can’t fall out of bed. The mattress is super comfortable.
