Keep in mind, this is strictly for pain relief and also to relieve the dryness and stiffness aspect of cold sores. Basically when your lip or area around it is feeling super stiff and chapped, it will make the skin supple again. It'll also relieve any tingles or burning. But the actual Abreva cold sore treatment (Docosanol Cream) is what works to actually treat/get rid of the sores themselves. So you need both. I usually place a thin layer of this stuff first, followed by the Abreva cream, allow it to dry (about 30 to 45 minutes) then add a couple cold sore patches to the treated areas to further protect while it heals. I also do red light treatments once in the mornings and once in the evenings, 5 minutes at a time each time. If you wanted to, you could also use just this and then the cold sore patches too. It depends on how effective it is for you. The patches themselves have healing formula in them too. So if you don't like the cream, that is an option. I've found that using the cream plus the patches worked better for me, tho. Ultimately you have to find what works for you. But this tube is specifically for pain relief only, it will not actually treat the sores, so you will need a second form of medicine, whether prescribed or over the counter, to treat the problem itself. So it works well for what it was meant for. Hopefully after this episode, won't need it again for a long time. This was my first episode after nearly 2yrs of not having any. Arrived opened but in the Amazon package. I ordered this for pain relief and it worked a miracle. The only thing I don’t care for is the small tube in a big box almost three times bigger the tube size. Also how to twist off lid and close tube requires you to press tube and loose medicinal cream. Ridiculous! I still gave 5 stars. Needs new way to open and close tube as not to waste my $. But took pain away on my cold sore immediately!

I’ve had cold sores for as long as I can remember, and Abreva has become my go-to treatment whenever one starts. It doesn’t prevent cold sores from happening, but it does seem to help them heal faster and eases some of the pain and discomfort. For the best results, I recommend applying it as soon as you feel that familiar tingling sensation before the cold sore fully appears. While it’s a bit pricey for the amount you get, it works well enough that I keep coming back to it. I just wish it prevented outbreaks altogether, which is why I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5.

Este producto me asusto al principio 😅 Es algo muy desagradable cuando nos sale esa pequeña erupcion en los labios, es tan molesto y uno no sabe ni como quitarselo, como hacer que desaparezca pronto, y lo peor es que arde, da comezón y se agranda cada vez mas! 🤦🏻‍♀️😓... cuando lo use por primera vez, ufff sentí un alivio inmediato (claro, debe ser por la lidocaina) pero se siente esa calma que uno buscaba, solo que me sorprendió cuando junte los labios (al tener la boca cerrada) y sentí el otro labios dormeciendose 😅 asi que, ntes de colocarme el producto en la parte del labio superior, me coloca un bálsamo en el labio inferior y de esa forma ya no se me adormecian ambos lados en esa zona 😄 me ayudó a cicatrizar mas rapido, no creció mas, me fmdio comodidad, y no tenia el labio inflamado como antes de usarlo, muy contenta, y solo se necesita muy poquito, del tamaño del grano de la quinua es más que suficiente! 😉 se los recomiendo mucho a todos aquellos que de vez en cuando nos sale un brote asi, a veces el stress nos provoca muchas alteraciones en la piel. Intentenlo, veran que no se arrepentirán 😃
