Absolutely perfect! The wood is definitely of higher quality than many similar items on Wayfair and Amazon, the color matches the rest of our paints and picture frames in our new house, and the lid hinges went on easily. It does close a little heavy, but otherwise my 2 year old and his little sister love it! No odors, it assembled pretty quickly, and my kids love having a single space for their toys in the living room. Seems quite durable, and even the assembly was pretty accessible, my husband got it put together in about fifteen minutes. Super excited about this purchase!

We LOVEEEE this toy box!! SO easy to assemble, very sturdy (could be used as a bench seat to put shoes on, etc), and holds SO MANY toys. Honestly, if we ever have more toys than will fit in here, it’s time to donate! :) Of course it’s already filled since Christmas just passed, but it truly is a great size. We have a small house and the toy box replaced the storage ottoman that we had there. It’s not bulky at all, perfect dimensions honestly. It’s a beautiful quality REAL wood, not cheap particle board. The hinges are pretty tight, so the toy box doesn’t close all the way unless there is something to weigh it down on top. I assume it will close all the way once the hinges loosen up, but I’m fine with it for now since that means no pinched fingers!!! It’s loose enough that my son can open and close it himself and dig all the toys out of it that he wants. Overall, great purchase for the size & quality!!! If we had a bigger house and another child, I would probably buy another one to put in each of their rooms, but for now this one meets our need!

We’ve had this toy chest in our playroom for about two years now, and I’m honestly impressed by how well it checks all the boxes. Sturdiness: Right out of the box, you can feel how solid this thing is. It’s not flimsy particleboard—it’s actual wood, and it holds up to daily toy explosions from our 4-year-old. My son even climbs in and out of it sometimes (we’re working on that 😅) and it hasn’t budged or wobbled. Ease of Use: Assembly was super manageable. Clear instructions, no missing parts, and it came together in under an hour with just a screwdriver. The cut-out handles on the sides make it easy to move if needed. Latches: One of my favorite things: the safety hinge! The lid has a slow-close mechanism that prevents it from slamming shut—total peace of mind when little fingers are around. It stays open at various angles, too, so you don’t have to prop it up manually. Size: It’s surprisingly spacious! We fit an entire zoo’s worth of stuffed animals, a bunch of Hot Wheels tracks, books, and a soccer ball, and there’s still room left. Great for keeping the floor from turning into a minefield of Legos. Weight: Heavy enough to feel durable and secure, but still light enough that I can slide it around if needed. I’d say it’s the perfect middle ground. Color: The gray is beautiful—neutral but modern. It blends perfectly with the rest of our playroom furniture and doesn’t scream “kiddie” in a way that clashes with your decor. If you’re looking for a toy chest that’s functional and attractive, this one’s definitely worth it. Would absolutely recommend to other parents looking for something long-lasting and safe.

I absolutely love this large toy chest. Not only does the final product look amazing, but the features are great as well. My favorite feature are the safety latches which help with opening and closing the chest. It is quite functional and can hold many items. The only issue is have with this product was the build. I noticed that several holes for the screws were slightly off causing some difficulty in assembly. It definitely requires two individuals for building. Still i would recommend it for families with needing some storage space.

This is a great quality toy box. Melissa & Doug is the best!! Size and the light color are perfect for my grandson's room. Love that the hinge on the lid stays where you put it. Safe for little hands. He loves to search for which toy he would like to play with. Uses it to pull himself up and look :) Perfect 1st birthday gift!

I now own three of these wonderful toy chests. I want to buy at least 1 more. They are fantastic. All of mine are natural wood. They are gorgeous. Many of the poor reviews are from people who are not apparently skilled at putting things together. This is one of the easiest pieces of furniture I have ever put together. The directions are great. The screws are divided up nicely and even numbered. Everything lines up perfectly. Inside the side panels the have metal for the bolts to screw into (not all toy boxes have this). It makes them very sturdy. As for the complaints for the flimsy bottom, they are ridiculous. In one of my boxes, I have a 50 pound bag of rabbit food and also a 40 pound bag of horse bedding pellets. As to the so called lid issue, you need to lift the lid slightly when lining up the holes and everything lines up perfectly (see my picture that shows how far the lid is supposed to open). I think some reviewers are over tightening the bolts and this can cause damage to the wood. Screws need to be hand tightened. Also, do not fully tighten anything until the complete box is built and then fully tighten everything. The toy boxes are sturdy enough for us to sit on as well (I would not recommend standing on them though). I want to add that the entire toybox can be put together with one Phillips screwdriver. Update: I have four of them now lol. They are still beautiful and super sturdy. The one with both the 50 pound bag of rabbit food and 50 pound bag of bedding pellets is still in pristine condition and the bottom is still in perfect condition. Added awesomeness....crayon washes off easily :)

Love them! We ordered two for my girl and my boys. They have so much storage we only really need one. Good quality they should hold up just fine for my little ones. They look pretty nice as well! Two thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼

We love this toy chest. It is the perfect size. Quite large and fits a ton of toys, but not to big to take up a lot of room in our apartment. It looks very nice and functions quite well. The hinges used are quality and they allow for very easy operation. The lid stays open in any position and never comes crashing down because the hinges hold it in place. This is a important feature because the first thing my 9 month old baby did was walk up to it, open and close the lid multiple times while taking several breaks to stick his head in the toy chest and see what is in there. This toy chest is very safe so I have no worry of it hurting my curious little baby. It is also the perfect height so our 9 month old can stand up and hold onto it, operate the lid himself, and reach a few toys that are closer to the top. The wood is a good compromise between durable hardwood and lower cost particle board. I am sure it could support children who want to sit on it and maybe a light weight adult, but it is really not designed to be used as a bench. Before this toy chest came toys were everywhere. Pilling up in corners and hard to clean up at the end of the day. We needed a toy chest so onto amazon I went. I have a few other of Melissa and Doug's products and they are all made very well and our baby has loved them. I was happy to see that they make a toy chest so I have something to contain all the toys they sold me. I think this toy chest is a good price point and uses durable enough materials to last a long time. It is also nice that it comes in different colors so that you can match your decor. Building this toy chest was very easy, anyone could do it. It only used one tool and took about 20 minutes or less. After I built it I noticed that the lid did not align well and it would crash into the side of the toy chest when I closed it. So I loosened the screws, realigned the lid and then fastened the screws. Problem was solved. It also mentions in the instructions to wait until it is full assembled before you fully fasten all the screws. I found that it was important to have the chest on level ground when fastening all the screws and not have two legs on and two legs off the carpet like I did at first. I would recommend this to anyone who has a baby or child with a lot of toys. It is really nice to have a place to put all the toys at the end of the day and also control how many toys are out in the play area at one time. I look forward to using the toy chest as a teaching tool to help my son learn how to tidy up after himself. This is great for toy storage. The lid stays exactly where you put it and the small open space between the bench and lid means no squished fingers. Lots of space and I like that it's also sturdy enough that it could be used as extra seating. It also looks nice in our living area.

Great toy box. My daughter is 19 months and she is able to open and go through it. Not to high and not to low. Holds a good amount of toys.

This is a beautiful chest. Large and spacious, but still acceptable for a smaller home. The quality is exceptional, and the bonus of the lid staying open is crucial for little ones! I can tell this will be something we hang onto for generations to come. 10/10.
