Review: Only Hair Tool You’ll Need - If you typically straighten your hair, this tool is a game changer. For reference, I have long, curly hair that is thick and fine. I normally let my hair air dry overnight and use a flat iron in the morning to straighten. It takes so much time, I usually hate hair day. With this tool, I was able to go from wet hair to completely dry and straight in 30 minutes. It is absolutely amazing! Using a traditional hair dryer and straighter, it normally takes me at minimum 1 hour, to do that all at one time. It’s important to read the directions as they provide styling tips and give more detail on all the functions. More than enough power and heat to get the job done. Left my hair feeling so soft and shiny, no damage. So excited to keep using this tool as hair day just got easier and way more fun! I have used the Shark Flex Style to try and straighten my hair and the Dyson is much better. It is definitely lighter to hold and took less passes on my hair to get it straight and dry from wet. The Dyson only took 2 passes per section of hair where the Shark Flex Style took 4-5 passes. Also, the sound pitch and noise level on the Dyson seems quieter than the Shark Flex Style, as it has a weird high pitch sound when compared to the Dyson. The auto sensing on the Dyson is a very nice feature as well that the Shark Flex Style lacks. All in all, if straightening is your go to style, this tool is worth every penny! Review: Amazing - I have fine naturally curly hair. I've heard all my life how "lucky" I am. There are days I embrace my curls and days I curse my curls. Like many out there I rely on a blow dryer (heat) and a flat iron (more heat) to achieve a sort of style on the days I don't like my hair. I recently chopped off 13" of hair for a donation to a non-profit, and my hair and I are kind of trying to figure out what we have now. My new do just barely touches my shoulders, so it is not long, not super short. I have no idea what possessed me to fork out $400 for a hair dryer...but after reading the reviews on desertcart I threw caution to the wind and bought one. While I waited for this investment to arrive I busied myself with watching dozens of YouTube on how these work. By the time it arrived, my anticipation level was off the charts and I could hardly wait to wash my hair and use this thing. The videos were so helpful, that I was comfortable with operating it right off. There is a learning curve for sure...this looks like a flat iron and after years of using one, it's like second nature, but this is not a flat iron. It's a weird hair dryer. You have to reposition the device to go in the direction of the air flow. One thing I did not consider, but it totally isn't an issue for some reason, is this does not reach your roots. I was concerned I would have straight hair from two inches out and weird wavy stuff at my scalp. That for some reason is not the case. I use just the air and kind of dry the roots in sections as I go. Results: Oh my goodness! It does exactly was it says it will do. I was 'blown away' by the results. Like shocked almost. I kept waiting for something to go wrong, but my hair just stayed straight and well behaved. I used a heat spray by Pura d'or and also have a backup Rusk serum to try next. Honestly, I've never seen anything like this contraption. The only downside, and it's not really a downside, just a comment, this leaves your hair straight. Super straight. You are not able to put a bend or curve if you are looking for that. I suppose you can use a flat iron, but that sort of defeats the purpose of having something that Dyson touts as being kinder to your hair. Overall, I am surprised at myself for spending an obscene amount of money for a hair dryer, but I am equally surprised at how this really does do what it says it does. Welcome to my hair ritual, Dyson.

AMAZING
TL:DR - my wavy/curly hair typically takes 45 min - 1 hour to straighten. I used the air straight and it took 17 and a half minutes to go from wet hair to dry and straight. It also worked on dry waves/curls to dry straight. Easy to use. Highly recommend. I honestly was a little skeptical about this when I first decided to try it. I have wavy/curly hair and it takes FOREVER to straighten it. Blow drying takes a long time for me, and I honestly lack the brush/hand/eye coordination to do a great job. So basically I have to dry my hair and then go over it with a flat iron. I have tried multiple tools that are blow dry brushes to try to get my hair from wet to dry/straight and most of them do nothing but create frizz. Even after finding one that semi-worked, I still had to spend time going over my hair with a flat iron to get it straight and not frizzy. This whole process would typically take me a minimum of 45 min, but usually closer to an hour. I had read reviews about the Dyson air straight greatly reducing that time and it being super easy to use. I decided to try it and assumed that even if it did get my hair close to straight, I would still need to go over it with a flat iron. I was hoping this would just drastically cut down the overall time it took. The first time I tried it my hair was dry and curly. I had some free time and decided to see how the air straight would do in this capacity. I figured, since it was using air, it wouldn’t be the best at going from dry-curly to dry- straight. I was wrong. Within what seemed to be about 15 minutes my hair was straight!! I even quickly “set” it with the cool air setting. I was honestly astonished at how well this machine worked!! Then it was time for the real test. Would it be able to take my wet, out the shower hair, and straighten it quickly? I wasn’t sure. I watched the video in the Dyson app when I first opened it (I think it’s about 2 min long, nothing crazy) which explained how to use the tool to dry the roots before you start straightening. I decided to use the stopwatch function on my phone to see how long it actually took me to do my hair. I hit start on the timer and started straightening with the air straight. Most sections of my hair were dry and straight with ONE pass of the machine. This was honestly amazing because using a flat iron typically takes several. Some areas needed two passes, but this was still so much better and quicker than anything else I’ve used. Plus it was my first time doing it so I’m sure there is a learning curve. When my hair looked done I went over it with the cool setting to “set” the style and hit stop on my phone. It took me 17 min and 29 seconds to go from wet waves/curls to dry straight hair. I am honestly amazed and will never be able to straighten my hair any other way.

Amazing for straightening curly hair
I have curly hair and have always hated that I have to blow dry my hair or wait to air dry before using a flat iron. Getting my hair from my natural to straight used to take me 2-3 hours. I can now have my hair from fully wet to dry and straight in about 20 minutes. And when I want refresh it after it’s already straight it’s more like 5-10 minutes. It’s a game changer!!! It also works SO WELL if you want to straighten your hair while it’s already dry. I was genuinely shocked because I was under the impression that for it to work well your hair had to be wet but that is not the case. I can use this on wet or dry hair and get the same result. Also the shine and volume I’m able to achieve using this is incredible. I also love that this is not a flat iron, just a really cool blow dryer. I have super fine hair that breaks VERY easily and since I started using this in place of a flat iron I’ve noticed significantly less breakage. I know the heat is still damaging but I use a good heat protectant and my ends are visibly less damaged than they were 6 months ago when I was using a flat iron 1-3 times a week. I know you can technically achieve the same results with a round brush and hair dryer but that takes skill and practice. I’ve never been able to achieve sleek straight hair with just blow dryer and round brush. It always comes out frizzy and poofy and I end up having to follow up with a flat iron. Which takes forever and it’s 2 rounds of heat styling which is horrible for your hair. I am obsessed with the air straight and if you love having straight hair you should ditch your flat iron and get this. Your hair will thank you and you will save so much time.

My Hair Broke Off in Clumps! I Do Not Recommend!
I don't normally spend this much money on a hair styling tool but the advertised claims that this product doesn't damage your hair and having a tool that dries your hair straight was very appealing. Yes you just run this through your hair, and it blows it straight. That part was pretty amazing but that was it. You have to dry your roots first. It straightens 2.5ish inches from your roots due to how close you can get this tool from your scalp(the air blows out down the hair so there is a gap from scalp to where it dries), AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHERE MY HAIR BROKE OFF!!! And yes all the way around! I used this on the lowest setting too! After using this for about a month approximately 2 times a week on the wet to dry setting(which is exactly why I bought it) I noticed very long strands of hair by the masses in the shower. And sure enough I had breakage about 2.5 inch's from my scalp and patches of short hair bushes all around my head. Of course this was all realized just after the 30day return policy. I cannot I believed that I wasted all of this money on something that ruined my hair that will take forever to grow out. Back to the standard blow dryer and brush set up, which I obviously wish I stuck with. One more thing. They way you have to use this it takes twice as long to blow out your hair. Even though I only had to do 2 or 3 runs down each section, you have to do a lot of sections which takes forever. It was very inconvenient to use on top of it. I love my Dyson vacuum and its amazing power so I figured this would be great. Epic Fail! Nightmare Product.

Wow!
Shockingly great. My husband has long strong metal rocking hair! Used to take staged drying of up to 2 to 3 hours to fully dry. This straightener took 20 minutes! Plus you can't burn yourself, doesn't damage hair and if you combine it with PHYTO Phytokeratine Repairing Heat Protecting Spray, it's so soft you can't stop touching it! Expensive, yes. My hair is thin and I certainly don't need this, but for those looking for the blow out of you dreams without the salon cost, give this a try! Got it during the holiday sales with no regrets. My only wish is that they come up with a solution for the GIGANTIC power transformers that have to be dealt with on their hair care tools.

My hair looks better, in less time thanks to this sanity saver!
Just adding one more review to pile on the praise for Dyson for creating this game-changing miracle device! Honestly, I'm surprised a device like this exists in my lifetime. Like many other reviewers, I used to use both a hair dryer and a flat iron after every wash to dry & straighten and this process took at least 30-35 minutes. The Dyson cuts my time and effort in half and I now only need 12-15 minutes to achieve the same look! In fact, my hair actually looks better after using the Dyson, as it does not compress the hair follicle quite as much as a flat iron and thus helps me retain some volume. I was concerned about how my roots would look but the option to lock the AirStraight in a closed position and essentially turn it into a stick dryer is incredible. I also love the option to choose Hot or Cold air and the setting for both Wet and Dry hair. As usual, Dyson's thoughtful design speaks to how this company covers all angles from all angles. I purchased this for the incredible sale price of $390 and it was worth every penny!

I am not the ideal user of this product, but I am a fan of all things Dyson and figured I would give it a try. My hair is very fine, straight, and medium-length. I really liked the Airstraight's ease of use, and it does exactly what it promises to deliver in terms of achieving stick-straight hair. For me, I like to add more volume if I can, and this product does nothing to help with that. I'd have to use another tool in addition to this one, but because the Airstraight is so expensive and my hair is so straight anyway, I'm going to return it and stick with my other dryers. However, I think people with curly or wavy hair will adore it. I will also say that one other thing I noticed is that all my shorter hairs were very staticky/frizzy/sticking up after I dried my hair. They calmed down after a few hours, but were quite unattractive at the beginning. Anyway, I will stick with my other Dyson hair tools that are much better suited to me.

GAME CHANGER
I've been a victim of the hair flatiron my whole life, can't blow dry my hair like the salon with a round brush to save my life! But this dyson replaces all my hair tools. I bought the airstrait specifically because my hair is naturally curly/wavy & frizzy and I mostly just straightener my hair. I was skeptical but I don't need anything else now! And it cut my hair time in half! It made my hair so soft, not too loud at all like I thought it would be also! If you go over it a few times from wet to dry it's straightens it marvelously! It's absolutely mind blowing and I wish I had this years ago!! Hope it helps my damaged hair from years of straightening with a flatiron. ***It's a little awkward at first using it but once you get the hang of it it's magic! Worth every penny!

Recomiendo

Best purchase I've ever made!
I love it. I have naturally curly and prefer to straighten my hair most of the time. I have been using a Chi blow dryer and flat iron for many years. I thought my hair looked good. But after using the Airstrait just once, it made a huge difference in my hair. It was smoother, more silky, and no frizz at all. The Airstrait is an amazing tool.
