I have a 1 inch RAM ball system, and this fit perfectly. It is well made, very sturdy, and very adjustable. I have this on a dual sport motorcycle, and I am quite confident that it will hold up very well even when riding off road. This unit is definitely quite a bit heavier than a plastic one, so if you're using it in a situation where weight may be an issue, please give that consideration.
