The bars are chrome plated whilst the weights are finished in a hammered effect, dark-grey paint. Looks professionally finished and of high quality. Other reviewers commented that the screw-locks loosen during use, but I haven't had that problem. Really like the extension tube which converts the two dumbbells into one barbell. Not sure if I would trust loading the full 20kg with the extension bar, though. As well as bent-over-rows, bench presses and fore-arm curls it's possible to place the bar-bell on the floor, slip your toes under it and knock out a few sit-ups. The different weights are ideal for a beginner. Even the hand-bars alone, without any discs, are a good way to start, adding weights as you progress.
