I got a Petlibro water fountain “gen 1” of a very similar system / design for my cat because he famously holds food in his mouth and drops it in his water. Getting the original one combated a lot of the issues I saw with that, giving my cat cleaner water, longer. HOWEVER, there were a TON of design flaws with the original product, here they are: 1: (and probably the most annoying part of that product) The water spout they used, was an enclosed part (you can take the top off of it) and it would always collect a bunch of the dirty food water in it from my cat. After a while, this part became disgusting and I couldn’t find good ways to clean it so it got worse and worse over time. This is no longer a concern with the new design because it has an open spout, which all corners and sections of it are easy to clean. 2. The pump. The “gen 1” water pump collected a lot of stuff inside of it easily and had really small spaces inside of it, so even a pipe cleaner couldn’t reach the very edges of some of those spots I needed to clean inside of the pump. With the new system, the pump encasing looks smaller, but those hard to clean areas are redesigned to make things easier to clean. 3. The “water transport thing” (since I don’t know the technical name, it is the part that connects to the pump and delivers the water upward through the fountain to the spout from the bowl itself) was really hard to clean and had some sort of stuff stick onto it over time that wouldn’t come off. In the case of the new design, this is the exact same part so hopefully it is easier to clean. 4. The “tray.” The tray is a part that also collected a bunch of the dirtiness from the food water and was somewhat hard to clean. With the new design all edges are accessible so you don’t have to worry about not being able to reach those spots when you’re cleaning. 5. The old product was wired and annoying. The new water bowl is battery operated and the pump magnetically/wirelessly operates using the battery powered base underneath. Overall thoughts on the new Dockstream Wireless water fountain (PLWF115): - this fountain is an improvement in every way from what I could see from the original design. - my cat immediately took to it - it has a higher capacity for more water in the bowl - it has a smaller and smarter water filter location/application - it is motion sensing so the bowl only uses the battery when my cat walks near it for water, saving a ton of battery in the bank (which is 5,000 MAH so it should last a while between charges. - the new unit is able to detect when water is low and won’t run the pump, risking the possibility of burning the motor out or hearing that annoying water noise until you fill it up again - there is a clever low water, low battery, and charging indicator. You almost can’t even see they are there - there is a clever charging / power button solution. This hides under the unit so if you have cats that play with wires, you can easily hide them under a mat so your cat wouldn’t know the difference. Overall, at full price or on sale this is a must buy for anyone considering getting it for their pet.

It’s quiet, easy to set up, and the cordless design makes it convenient to place anywhere without worrying about cables. My cat took to it right away and drinks more water now, which is great for their health. The build quality feels solid, and it’s simple to clean and refill. The water flow is gentle and consistent, and the battery life is impressive. A great upgrade for any pet owner looking to encourage better hydration.

I bought two fountains a year ago; they worked great! I love them! Cats love them! So I have to at least give it a three, but the company's customer service deserves a one!!!! They do not back up their product as they state, and they took way too long to deal with something pretty simple, and it was never dealt with!!! After a year one fountain just stopped working completely. The other fountain still is working great. I bought a new pump and it still wouldn't work. I followed care instructions to a tee. In fact, it does take commitment to maintain these fountains, and it is time consuming in a busy schedule. The filters are too expensive; I change mine weekly! I sent customer service receipts, pictures, detailed explanations, and even spent more money ordering a new fountain. I have two cats and like to have two fountains, and graduating to three. They did not replace their defective fountain. They sent more emails asking for more pictures of their pump taken a part. I had tried three different pumps in this fountain, giving them detailed explanation; and the fountain still would not work; it was defective. It was ridiculous! That correspondence took over two months of back and forth emails. With all I sent them, and all I've spent, they should have definitely backed up their product and mailed me a replacement fountain for their defective fountain. So WARNING about their commitment to back their products up. The fountains are really nice when they are working well. They do take care and maintenance though, so do take that into consideration. My two I have are great and working strong, but while they are working great I am researching other companies and options. After this experience, I don't think I will choose to continue with PetLibro. The pricey filter maintenance too is a strong downfall and consideration. Just sending out a WARNING after my experience with their customer service and lack of backup for a defective product.

It worked decently for three months, then suddenly stopped. I replaced the pump and the filters, but nothing helped. CS was very slow, but they did replace the base with no charge.

I love this fountain! I originally purchased it because I already have a corded fountain downstairs, but I wanted a cordless option for my kitchen. The motion-activated feature really appealed to me because the water doesn't run continuously—it only activates when it detects activity, which keeps the water fresh. The biggest challenge wasn't the fountain, it was my cat. She's very sensitive to anything new, and when I first set this up, she wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. The fountain is motion-activated, so when she cautiously approached it for the first time, the sensor detected her and the water suddenly started flowing. That was enough to send her backing away in a hurry! She looked at me as if she was saying, "Did you see that?!" From that moment on, she treated the fountain with extreme suspicion and wanted nothing to do with it. For more than a week, I left the fountain out alongside her regular water dish. She would go out of her way to avoid the fountain, taking a wide path around it just to reach her old bowl. At that point, I was convinced it wasn't going to work. I decided to move the fountain to a location where I could keep it plugged in so it would run continuously. Even then, she avoided it for several more days. Then, on the very day I was considering returning it, she finally approached it and took a long drink. I was thrilled! That was the breakthrough we needed. Since then, she's been using it every day. I'm gradually moving it toward the location where I'd prefer to use it in cordless mode, and I'm hopeful she'll eventually become comfortable with the motion-activated feature as well. Baby steps! As for the fountain itself, I'm extremely impressed with the quality. The water reservoir is generously sized, which means less frequent refilling, and the design looks like it will be very easy to clean. I haven't needed to do a full cleaning yet, but I appreciate that it comes with a small brush for reaching all the little corners and crevices. What stands out most, however, is how incredibly quiet it is. In fact, I can't hear it at all unless I'm standing right next to it. Even then, what I'm hearing is just the sound of the water flowing, not the pump. If you're looking for a well-made, nearly silent fountain with the flexibility of cordless operation, I highly recommend this one. Even if your cat is a little suspicious of new technology, don't give up too quickly—mine eventually decided it was worth the risk!

I am happy with this item. It has a motion sensor so it only runs when cat is in front of it. The cats seem to like it and I dont have water all over the floor! My vultures try to eat cords - so I am happy this can hold a charge and lasts a good amount of time as well. I have to charge about once a week or maybe every week and a half. This was recommended to me and grateful for the recommendation- heres me paying it forward.

I've been through about 4-5 different fountains for my critters. They either fall apart, get too dirty, or they're too easy for my cats to knock over. This fountain is heavy, has a locking lid, a built-in battery, and an outstanding filter. Super simple to clean as well. My power recently went out and I completely forgot that it works without needing to be plugged in 24/7. I'd say that a possible downside is that there's no way to tell how full it is after a while, but these should be cleaned every two weeks anyways which is around the time that it usually empties out.

The water fountain works very well for what it is. I can't personally attest to its battery performance when used in wireless, but as a cat fountain that I kept wired all the time, it did exactly what I needed it to. It was quiet and had a large enough capacity that I only would need to add a little bit of water once a week between weekly cleanings for my 2 cats. Cleaning was pretty easy, and I never had problems with biofilm build up. The Kuangbiao 3rd party filters I used (which were much cheaper than the official ones) seemed to work just fine when changed every 2 weeks. However, the reason I use "was" and removed a couple stars is due one to an issue with the design of the fountain base. The base is not water proof, or even water-resistant in any meaningful way. The USB-C cable the fountain comes with has a little rubber gasket you can slide on to prevent water from entering, and the power button is surrounded by a rubber top as well. The problem occurs when any water gets dripped over the sides of the fountain, which is absolutely going to happen since this is going to be used for cats. When it drips over, it pools at the top of the base between the water resorvoir and the base before it inevitably overflows and wicks down around the sides and then pools under the base. This is right where the cable plugs in and the button is. You can of course try to keep it dry, but that'd require tons of active maintenance, and defeats the point of having that little amount of water resistance they attempted with the design. After about a year of use, I noticed the charging indicator light was turning pink and fading in and out. The pump was also kind of spotty and wouldn't run constantly, which it should when plugged in. I picked up the base and sure enough, there was a bit of water sloshing around inside. Since I had a feeling it was pretty much dead anyway, I decided to disassemble the base by peeling the 4 rubber feet off and unscrewing the 4 Phillips head screws securing the top plastic piece to the bottom one. Then I went around with a small flat-head screwdriver to pry and pop open the internal plastic clips holding the top and bottom pieces together. Once I got in, I saw that the water had corroded and rusted the connection on the main board where the light I had mentioned turning pink was. I also noticed corrosion, but no rust on both the USB port and the power button connections to the mainboard. So that's the issue; the electronic internals are not properly shielded from water, despite this being a water fountain. I find it funny that the base mentions clearly to not submerge it, but it's not even constructed well enough to withstand normal exposure if used as a water fountain. If they just conformally coated the mainboard and the motion sensors, it wouldn't be a problem. And instead of securing the 2 base pieces together by some screws and clips, glue them together so they're water-tight. Might make getting into it like I did harder, but let's be real, I'm probably one of like 5 people on the planet that have decided to open a Petlibro water fountain base up. And I wouldn't have needed to if it were properly water-resistant. So buyer beware, your unit might die in a year just by using water in your water fountain. Still, worked very well while it lasted, but will be buying a fountain that doesn't rely on a PCB to operate.

Got these on an offer and the perlibro is defo the better fountain where mold and gunk build up is concerned, as you dont really get it. Occasionally a bit of pink mold very minute and easy to clean. Unlike the cheaper fountains

This kitty didn't drink before the fountain and now she drinks all the time. It is very quiet. I don't hear it. I haven't tried the battery function yet, but I am super pleased with the purchase and would buy again.
