Bass is weaker than I expected, otherwise a superb speaker!
I was sent a review copy of this product free of charge in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. I have thoroughly tested the product to the best of my ability before posting this review.I'll get the bad out of the way first, because there is only one. Given that the speaker has a 5W subwoofer I did expect a bit more bass. I'm beginning to think that I expect far too much from portable speakers, but every X-Mini speaker I reviewed has always pleased me with the amount of bass they pump out so surely there must be another speaker out there that can rival it!? That being said, unlike many speakers in this price range - there is bass. You can feel very soft kicks which are probably more than sufficient for most music listeners and non-HipHop heads. Now with that out of the way, let's focus on how good this product really is...It's brilliant. It has everything you ask for. A USB port, SD Slot, Bluetooth and AUX-in should have you sold at a sub-£100 pricetag. There's also a built in FM radio and it's portable! It happily playes MP3 files placed in the root folder of any SD card or USB flash drive or hard drive. You have the option to play/pause/next/previous using buttons on the face of the speaker. The other buttons consist of a 'mode' and 'EQ' button and finally a power switch. After a 2 hour charge the speaker last me a full day of playing music (approx 8 consecutive hours) which is very good for a 1000mAh battery. I charged it via the USB cable provided but plugged it in to a 2.2A wall adapter which is not provided. I wouldn't recommend charging this speaker over a standard 1A USB port.It measures a good size for a more serious portable speaker. A little larger than a kitchen tissue roll and weighing no more than 600g. It's best suited for smaller park gatherings but has enough power to easily drown a medium sized room with sound.I still prefer the sound output from the smaller and punchier X-Mini range, however for value-for-money and features packed in to one device the oneConcept Dr Beat is at the very top of my list.
